Mid-Primary Election Day...

Say hey folks!

We're hearing very low turnout in the Omaha metro. A little friskier in Haymarket Arena-minded Lincoln.

***

The Lincoln Journal Star is running live, ticker type, election coverage here. Take a click.

Babies have taken over the Lincoln polling places (apparently).

Our intel says that the Arena vote will be close.

***

Under the "The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend" heading...

The Esch (Sr.) residence on Blondo street is all about pimping...MattSak...

(Wonder who Jim is backing...)

***

A few potentially tight Unicameral races to watch the underdogs on tonight:

Dis 16 (West Point): Kent Rogert vs Lydia Brasch
Dis 46 (Lincoln): Danielle Conrad vs Chad Wright
Dis 30 (Beatrice): Norm Wallman vs Bob Tiemann
Dis 12 (Omaha): Steve Lathrop vs John Lillis
Dis 34 (Aurora, et al.): Annette Dubas vs Brandon Hunnicutt

***

Not enough excitement going on for you today?

2012 is still too close as well?

Well, how about the 2013 Omaha Mayor's race!

Who's interested? Maybe State Senator Brad Ashford or City Councilman Franklin Thompson.
Or City Councilwoman Jean Stothert...
Maybe.

***

And here's a totally random one:

As many know, National GOP Chair Michael Steele has not exactly endeared himself to many party stalwarts with the way he has handled the job in the past year. Basically, many feel that the gig means you stand in the background, sell the party line, and take hits when called upon. Steele hasn't exactly done that.

So a few names have been bandied about for the job for next year, in GOP circles.

One of those names?

Dave Heineman.

Gossip amongst yourselves.

Updates later.

Sak did not respond to the Nebraska Right to Life PAC Voter Guide (which, by the way, is on our Facebook pages and hunt for it on website under PAC). An elderly man called this morning confused because he said Sak's campaign told him Sak was "100%" pro-life but he noticed Sak had no response on the NRL PAC survey. I explained that even though we have a sole endorsement for pro-life incumbent policy (i.e. endorsement to Cong. Terry) that it behooves a challenger to respond to our survey as we are one of the few PACs/groups that prints the answers of every candidate who responds to our survey AND distributes them. Seems Sak would have benefitted by having his answers on the NRL PAC Voter Guides we mailed into the 2nd CD.

Heineman wants Nelson's seat, he won't take the GOP job, even though he's hugely qualified.

The Governor would be a great cheerleader for the GOP...look what he's done for Nebraskans.

I predict the Arena will pass by 5 points and RWP will be dining out in York.

With Qwest being sold, Rex Fischer is in the best position of his life to run for mayor. Kids are in college; time to spend the political capital account.

HAHA Esch Sr. supporting Sak...they must be scared that Terry will be White!

Sen Ashford would be very good as the next mayor of Omaha! I'd say the best in many many years!

Solomon Kleinsmith said...

I'll second the Ashford for Mayor idea. I'd actually donate and volunteer for him.

Anonymous said...

Ashford won't take the mayor job, he's having too much fun traveling.

The Esch family is out there.

Sak, kind of clueless sorry to say.

It will be interesting to see how the Treasurer's race turns out, and a few Legislative races. But even more interesting will be the vote tally and breakout for Lakers. Just have to wonder how many D's will not vote for him but vote down ballot?

According to media sources...Hastings is having an "encouraging early turnout." The Kool-Aid Zombies are lining up the give Mrs. Kleeb some real work and make sure "Hastings school children have a good lunch" <=== her entire platform.

Here's an update!

Kyle's thread on NNN about today's primary has garnered ... drum roll please ... one comment. Impressive.

My wife and I voted in our West Omaha precinct at about noon. We were voters number 14 & 15. I've never seen the place as quiet as today.
Julie, in case you hadn't noticed yet Matt Sak is so far from the real deal, he can't even see it from his location.

Brad Ashford would be a lousy mayor. He's a RINO and loves raising taxes and wasting taxpayer money. He would be a big hit with the Chablis and Bree crowd he already represents in the legislature.

Solomon Kleinsmith said...

I'd be happy to take Ashford into the Independent camp if he ran for mayor. Probably wont, but a guy can dream. If you right wingers dont want him, come on over, the water's fine.

I just want to tell the whole state that it was ME that posted on NNN. I'll be back to post there again real soon because I just know your all waiting with baited breath to hear from ME again.

I wanna talk about ME
Wanna talk about I
Wanna talk about number one
Oh my ME my

Asshford is a RINO all the way. IF he runs, he may as well change parties. He's having too much fun in Lincoln trying to find more ways to infringe on our 2nd Amendment rights...all in the name of helping the poor, unfortunate souls in north O.

Just saw the Terry camp on 72nd & Dodge a little while ago!

Ashford is running. Plans are already in place.

NNN once used a pic of me without my permission on his homepage. I was a little upset and creeped out, because the only possible way he could've been gotten it was through my Facebook. Then I got over it when I realized nobody every reads NNN.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Jamie, "the only possible way" Kyle Michaelis could have gotten that picture of you was through your Facebook account. Sure, it was sent out in an e-mail by Mark Fahleson to every Republican in the state, but please go on imagining that anyone (even Vile Kyle) would waste their time trolling through a GOP intern's pictures on Facebook.

Anonymous said...

Jamie--there are several stories like that. Even Vile Kyle admitted a while ago that NNN has become "too shrill and hypocritical". He's right.

LLTMM...

You could just post here and save us some time. I'll just wait for someone else to report their NNN findings here. Dem blogs are so hostile and uncivil. If they were civil we would probably visit and have open dialogue. That's what we need...more civility.

If Omaha wants the best mayor possible & true fiscal conservative, there is clearly only one choice... Dave Nabity!!

Dave is an Omaha businessman who has also been very engaged in city affairs. Dave knows the people of Omaha & I know he would make the decisions that would bring Omaha out of its current mess.

Having volunteered on Dave's 2006 Gubernatorial race, I can vouch for the honor & integrity of this man & hope that Omahan's will vote for the proven leader!

I just heard at work that crazy little David Boomer is causing Lee Terry problems today. What is he saying?? That little man just won't shut up.

Kids,
At some point, put up or shut up.
Thanks

Booo Hal Daub!!!!!

Frankly, I don't know why you let the posts stand about boomer on the news. It never happened. What's really funny is that Ian probably started this and now the Sad people are running with it and don't have the slightest what anyone is even talking about.LOL

Nice try, but the Terry Camp seems to have things under control-and all their bills paid.

Street Sweeper said...

Two reasons:

1) B/c we don't have the war-room TV set up with every channel playing -- so it may be true. And..

2) If it's not true, then those who were saying it look like idiots. Which seems to be the case here.

Success!

Speaking of insomniacs...

Kyle posted a thread at 1:40 a.m. this morning about the Treaurer's race. Interesting how many comments have been made on it--none, zippo.

Kyle is really generating alot of back and forth at NNN. lol

Ashford would be horrible as mayor. He's made too many enemies; the gun supporters with his rabid support of gun control, and how is suggesting the National Guard go into North Omaha endear him to anyone there? Especially since the last notable time the Guard was there was in the 60's to stop riots....

He's just stereotypical of the state legistators: a meddling neighborhood association president who's illusions of grandeur has gone to his head

Dave Nabity doesn't live in Omaha.

Ashford reminds me of Ed Begley Jr. Sweeper may have done a SAB on them at one time if I recall correctly. To me Begley and Ashford not only share a close resemblance...I think they think alike in their politics. The Nebraska Guard in North Omaha is classic Ashford.

Street Sweeper said...

Brad Ashford SAB x2.
I'm here to help.

Nabity just moved into the city limits last weekend. You better start watching your p's and q's Sund.

On the state legislative races, one must wonder:

- Did Danielle Nantkes/Conrad take a snowplow to the polls today?

- Will Norm Wallman make it to the general election? (Oddsmakers say no.)

- Will the trial lawyers start biting their nails if Steve Lathrop's race is within 20 percentage points?

- Does Omaha resident Kent Rogert even remember where district 16 is? Or is he claiming an international address since he spends so much time in his tax-free boat on the Missouri River?

- Will Amanda McGill start crying if she finishes less than first in district 26?

- Will anyone other than uber-partisans Heath Mello and Jeremy Nordquist miss Tom White?

Anonymous said...

Thank god I don't live in Omaha because Nabity would make a horrible mayor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

brad ahsford will be the flip-flopper mayor if he wins. he would be to mayor what Joel Osteen is to preachers: will say anything to make people like him. we need honsety, not a butt kisser

anyone think if mort sullivan comes in last place in his race, he will be preparing for his next attention seeking moment, I mean his election campaign in 2012 for whatever...

Ashford is a giant pep rally with little or no substance, ever! What has he ever managed that was successful, OHA? Now there is a success story.

9.35% turnout
28,995 voters in Douglas County today.
