Mid-Election Day 2008

As we continue to search for those elusive exit polls, a few things on our radar this afternoon...

***

The OWH finds an Obama-Terry voter! Of course that voter was cancelled out by the McCain-Esch voter standing next to her. Much giggling ensued...

***

The Yale Daily News uses Leavenworth Street as their source for the latest Scott Kleeb article. Too bad they hadn't seen our latest Separated at Birth yet...

***

Want to see Lee Terry and Jim Esch vote?
(Well, then you should get a life.)
But in any case, KFAB captured that moment for history...

See something interesting? Want to shout out for your candidate? That's what the comments section is for...

Lee Terry broke his pledge on term-limits.

He is wasting our tax dollars on frank mail.

He admits he "sits at the kiddie table" in Congress (think how little influence he will have in a new more Democratic House).

Has no record of significant achievement (oh wait, he did ban teenagers from "cruising" on Dodge Street one summer - big freakin' deal)

Voted 90% with Bush

Voted for the bailout

Accepts Congressional pay raises

Never hestitated to go to war with Iraq

LET'S GET SOMEBODY NEW IN THERE!

I didn't vote for Obama or Kleeb but I did vote for Jim Esch

WAKE UP SARPY COUNTY FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Street Sweeper said...

And there's your appeal from an Eschie who thinks Sarpy Co. residents are sleeping dolts.

You don't hear that type of request much.

I don't agree with the Eschee but there are too many people that just assume that because you are a Republican that you automatically support the troops and love the country more. There are a lot of military folks who disagree with Bush & McCain's foreign policy. I would wish that the Sarpy County voters don't just automatically vote Republican. We all need to think about what's best for the country.

SS,

It sure would be a lot easier to discuss Terry vs. Esch if we had some poll numbers to ruminate on. I wonder why neither campaign has released those internals everyone keeps talking about. I am thinking about voting for Esch, mostly so that I can lower the unemployment rate in Douglas County, since I guess Jim doesn't have a job right now.

I do hang around an awful lot for someone who doesn't agree with your views, but every time I'm over at Plains Feeder, ptg calls me a socialist pig, which only hurts because it's true.

what are people hearing? Did you have to wait in line long? What parts of Omaha/Sarpy are reporting high/low turnouts....?????

I need information people!!!!!!!!

Street Sweeper said...

Ryan,

You're "thinking about voting for Esch" are you?

We like honesty first here on L. St...

And ptg does call a spade a spade. He might also call it a sh*t shovel. Whaddaya gonna do?

The Esch people posting here are certainly sounding hysterical now...hmmmm.

Keep it up!

Esch's MSNBC interview killed him. Pro-life people now know he waffles even on the major pro-abortion bill backed by Boxer and Obama. That's 20% of the Democratic vote that will go to Terry. Sorry, Jim.

The lines were long at my polling place, about a 1 hour wait.

How many people watch MSNBC?? Nobody.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 3:55--I think you're right on MSNBC (more watch Fox). But, Esch's comment was widely blasted around to pro-life families in Omaha on Sunday and Monday. They know about it.

Major blunder by Esch.

Well i dont have a personal experience but i do have a good story from my girlfriend. She was going door to door selling honey to benefit the Ollie Webb Center when she and another person went to someones door in Midtown. The person said "before i buy any honey from you i need to know, who are you voting for?" My girlfriend said "Im just going to walk away". Her partner said McCain and so the person at the door bought some honey. He also said if they had been Obama voters then he wouldn't have bought any from them. So my question is this: What kind of jackass wont support the Ollie Webb Center (a foundation for the mentally retarded) because the volunteer on behalf of the center is a Obama supporter???

FWIW, my polling place (rural in the 1st district; about as red as it gets) was busier this morning than I've ever seen it.

Not that there are any particular cliff-hangers in the first, but still...

It was so exciting for me to go into the booth and mark the oval for Mr Obama.
I am lucky and happy to be alive to see a guy like him win the Presidency of the USA, especially considering the guy whose place he took.
As for the other races; who cares?
Except for 424, and I am afraid that one will pass.

ricky from omaha

Lee Terry has nothing of importance to show for his 10 years in Congress. What a waste!

PS- I didn't vote for Obama because he's so pro-abortion.

Looks like Lee Terry will win. Congratulations Congressman - your million dollars of negative, personal, sleazy ads worked.
What a disgrace.
Shame on the 2nd District for re-electing Lee Terry -- yawn
When the whole country is moving forward, Nebraska stays stuck.

Street Sweeper said...

Yeah, that Democracy stinks, doesn't it.

Anonymous said...

Amazingly, Lee Terry will be even more worthless in Congress as the Democrats take bigger control.

Not so fast dingbats! But no matter who wins in Dist. 2, there is something pretty strange about how the results are being displayed. Each time the election commission updates ALL of the Nebraska races, there is just one single race that is not being updated...the esch terry race. How can the percentage of votes counted keep going up without a single vote being added to the 2nd cong. dist. race results. Pretty amateur job by the election counters.

Now that Obama has won I want to be the first on here to say the 2012 Republican Nominee will be Governor Bobby Jindall. You heard it here first!

Good evening Comrades...

Looks like Chuckie the Hagel has a new job to report to in January while Kleeb rides off into the sunset. "Happy Trails to you...until you run again...Happy Trails to you...keep smilin' until then..." Pipsi... the 3rd will put Johanns over the 18 percent.

Jindall would be a good pick...if the "USSR of America" is still around in 2012.

I just got back from the Initiative 424/Mike Johanns/Jeff Fortenberry victory parties, to see that Lee Terry has an insurmountable lead. Looks like the Nebraska Democratic party had another 0 for everything night.

Scott Kleeb had it right. If only the rest of the country could do it the Nebraska way.

lee...put your kids to bed for gods sake.

Obama's up 114,212 to 113,853 in NE-02 as of 11:26.

Obamaha?

Anonymous said...

A couple of things:
Congrats Terry on a hard fought victory. If the RNCC hadn't come to your rescue i have a feeling it would have been a different outcome. And if i ever hear you sing again i will seriously consider gouging out my ear drums. Suffice to say, you have a voice for silent movies.
Congrats Johanns. I never really had anything against you, i just like Kleeb more. I have a feeling Kleeb will be involved in Nebraska politics for awhile however.
Congrats Obama!!! This is a mandate for you, and against the Republican Party nation wide. This was a referendum on you, but also on the repubs and their way of doing things. Voters spoke in a loud and clear voice that they cant and dont trust repubs to be in power. We almost made CD2 count towards your total, but at least those in Douglas County can proclaim it to be Obamaha.

Anonymous 8:47, 8:55 and 12:10--you couldn't exhibit less class. I assume you are, respectively, Hannah, Kyle and Packer. The three stooges.

Anonymous said...

ASG--if the DCCC had not come to Esch's rescue, what do you think the result would have been?

I believe they spent $1 million between independent and coordinated TV and mail attacking Terry--about twice what the NRCC did. True?

Anonymous said...

Can any of you Republicans tell me what Lee Terry's work experience was before he got elected onto the City Council????

Anonymous said...

Um, he was a lifeguard at Peony Park.

Anonymous said...

He was an attorney--in practice. Any other questions?
