ILLEGAL anti-recalling!

The anti-Mayor Suttle recall group, “Forward Omaha”, has a commercial up, via Joe Jordan’s YouTube site.

See it here:

Now, you remember Forward Omaha. It is run by a 2nd year Creighton Law student. Who apparently is a webmaster and a whiz on her Mac. All the while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to create and telecast ads.

Hey look, the anti-recallers don’t what to show their faces, fine. You will note that the Mayor Suttle Recall Committee has had a number of public press conferences and have been public about their intentions and reasoning.

Forward Omaha, and the others? Well, we have heard Brad Ashford speaking from a back room. And that P.J. Morgan isn't into it.  And that Democrat sugar-daddy Dick Holland is willing to bankroll the whole matter.

But not much else, huh? [Ah, looks like they heard us!]

So now we hear that Forward Omaha will pay YOU $150 to...hmm...not sure. Take photos? Glower as people sign their name?

Here is what we want to say:

Please watch out for intimidation procedures by Forward Omaha paid thugs!

Forward Omaha may have paid GOONS trying to ILLEGALLY block your Constitutional rights to sign a petition!

Take photos of these paid Forward Omaha employees, and please report their illegal activity!

There. And we didn’t even need any high falutin’ computer animation to say the exact same thing as Forward Omaha did in their ad.

Oh, and you may note that the ad doesn’t seem to mention the awesome job that the Mayor is doing.

For those of you who have an insatiable need for politics, no matter what the cost...
Here is video of the 3rd District Congressional debate.

Enjoy.

And because we don’t always outwardly show our love for Northeast Nebraska, here is an endorsement of Governor Heineman by the Sioux City Journal.

As a "civil rights" lawyer, has Tom White come out and disavowed our President's shameful pandering to racist fears about Republicans?

How dare our President use inciteful language of racism to refer to where Republicans are welcome in our National debate on policy.

In addition, after reading this morning's OWH, I have just one question for Vince Powers-the big head of the Nebraska Democrat Party.

Vince, were you as appalled by Susie Buffett and Dick Holland spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy the votes of African Americans living in a small area of Omaha 2 years ago?

Democrats have been trying to buy elections long before Republicans began getting accused of it.

The Intimidate Omaha campaign is shameful. Unpaid volunteers seeking to petition their government for a redress of grievances will now be met by paid "persuasioners?" First it was intimidate Jean Stothert. Then intimidate Dave Nabity. Now, intimidate the general public from exercising their constitutional rights? Omahans will not stand for this!

So they say they are concerned about police layoffs, eh? Well, didn’t the new police contract get that ball rolling? Here’s how it works, the police union and the city created the pie, but only so many police officers can have a piece of the pie. That means some will get none.

oh, and im sure its those generous librarian contracts that are just RUINING the city budget.

Those Crafty Fiscal Hawks said...

So let me get this straight, Suttle and other DEMs RAISE taxes to satiate their spending and avoid cutting (virtually any significant) public services. Now they have their ‘mouth pieces’ becoming FISCAL HAWKS with the City’s money arguing that they suddenly have the ‘moral fortitude’ to cut spending and possibly services should they have to pay for a recall? Hollywood can’t even write stuff this good!

The OWH is running an article by the ever so balanced Paul I eat for Free at every political event I can, Hammel and the money Pete Ricketts is putting into this years races.

Well Paul why don't you put your considerable research skills into how much each UNION organization is putting into campaigns?

Start with White, to Conrad, then Rogert, and maybe even Whitehead!!

Hammel must be looking for a NPR job.

The Teachers Union just coughed up $10,000.00 in cash to Whitehead directly. Not to mention the tens of thousands in "Independent" expenditures.

I wouldn't be surprised if the UNIONS haven't poured a Couple of Hundred THOUSAND dollars into Nebraska Races!! You know 30K here and 40K there, pretty soon it adds up.

Every election its the same thing for the unions. So Paul do you have the courage to write the story?

Didn't think so.

What they are doing is not illegal. People against the recall have the same rights to occupy that space and inform the public as the people collecting signatures. It is not voter intimidation because they are not voting - they are signing a petition. SS, you're looking for a scandal that isn't there.

It is the same as that (Rupert Murdock funded) wing nut effort to (successfully) repeal affirmative action in NE a couple years back. Young people were hired to stand next to the signature collectors and make sure that 1. the signer knew what they were signing, and 2. ensure that every signature was collected legally. If everyone hates Suttle as much you all suggest then it shouldn't matter if their is a college student standing next to the petitioner.

Aren't you conservatives supposed to be the Constitutional law experts? I suggest reading it some time...

Oh Mander,

Let me ask you this: If some PAID anti-recaller is there selling fake Rolexes out of a condor feather jacket, while someone is trying to sign, are the Recallers just supposed to stand there and NOT take a photo of said ILLEGAL activity?

Who is watching the anti-recall watchers?

Some of us have respect for the law.

Anonymous said...

Respect for the law? Like the recall committee members who engaged in electioneering activities *inside the election commission office* while people were voting early?

GeosUser said...

What I find amusing in the ad by Mayor Moron's backers is what isn't there. No statement that the Mayor has/is/will do a good job. When mentioning service cuts, you never hear/see the fire department mentioned...always just police. I guess that's because the fire union owns Suttle, Jerram, et.al. Intimidating petition signature gathering volunteers and potential petition signers...straight out of police/fire union thuggery playbook.

Anonymous said...

Because, the recall isn't about whether or not the mayor is doing a good job. That's not the standard. That standard is for an actual election.

A recall is about criminal actions, abuse of power, or malfeasance. None of which the recall supporters alleged in their recall statement, because nothing Suttle has done meets those standards.

Tried to figure out who this 2nd year law student is. From what I can gather, here's a brief bio.

She played doubles tennis for South Sioux in the 2002 State Tennis Meet.

She was in the Honors program at UNO where she wrote a thesis on "The Art of War: Using Rape as a Strategy for Victory." Graduated UNO in 2007.

Went to work as a Congressional staffer for Chuck Hagel in January 2008 as a constituent service representative. She held the position after !ohanns took over and it appears left that job in July '09 to start law skrewel.

She opposes the recall effort because "There's a lot of great things Mayor Suttle has accomplished." (Oh yeah? Such as?)

Show me in the recall statute where is says a recall is reserved solely for criminal actions, malfeasance, etc. Can't do so? Then you're a moron just like the rest of Suttle's supporters. Maybe the voters in Omaha are just fed up with just plain incompetence. That also is a sound and logical reason for recall.

Anonymous said...

Geouser, read the comment at 11:59 again. I don't think it said what you think it said.

And Ho, Ho, Ho at 12:37, if it's just about sore loserdom and trying to trying to revoke the outcome of an election, then why was there never an effort to recall Fahey?

This guy has acted like a jackass from his first day in office. He's returned election help by granting political favors to police and fire unions, which have come at the expense of taxpayers. He deserves to be yanked from office.

This law student running the anti-recall effort needs to review the laws dealing with recalls. Nowhere in the law does it say that you can only have a recall if the mayor commits a crime. You can have a recall anytime We the People want one. And for any reason we choose.

Spare us the lectures; instead, try explaining what great and wonderful things Jim "Oz" Suttle has done for the people of Omaha who don't belong to police and fire unions.

No one's saying that's what's in the law. They're saying that's the standard that most reasonable people - people who aren't motivated by the fact that they lost the election and still can't get over it - use.

You're trivializing the process.

NOT UNION BOUGHT! said...

If We the People are fortunate we may be electing individuals who will start some inquires into all the Union activities. I hope the Fire, Police, and Teachers Union's are investigated for where all the dues are spent.

Oh, and since the Public Sector Unions are working so hard to influence elections, I think their books should be opened up for all to see.

I sure hope the Legislature makes some significant changes to the CIR too!!

Anonymous said...

Smartass at 1:20, calling that a "recall effort" is like calling Meister/Boyle a legitimate threat to Heineman's re-election.

The point was that there was no effort to reverse Fahey's election by use of a recall. The "recall" that you're talking about failed to garner the needed signatures and happened at the tail end of his 8 years in office.

C'mon, twit. What you said didn't change my point at all. If it's about sore loserdom, then explain why only the most feeble of recall attempts was orchestrated at the 11th hour of Fahey's tenure.

Is that better?

Wait, Tom already made his down payment to the Democrat House Leadership when he, VERY PUBLICLY, jumped on board the Obama/Pelosi/NelsonCare party bus (and he has taken $5000 from Ben Nelson, too!).

Tom White even signed on to support that crap ass bill when it GUARANTEED (that was in caps for all of you people that have bought White's BS)that "at least one plan offered" under the public option include abortion on demand services. That was known as the Degett Amendment after the House Member from Colorado that annually gives a floor speech about the right to publicly funded abortions for women incarcerated in Federal prisons.

When will you and the every day person who votes republican learn that the corporations you worship do not care about you in any way. They use you to get their super large tax breaks. They will ship your job over seas in a heart beat. The abuses of corporation run so extreme that if they make a mistake and it costs you your life while working they will will blame a dead person. Or Sharon Angle saying we need to do 2nd amendment rights on Congress if they don't change. Or the Senate candidate from Alaska, Joe Miller whose security handcuffed a reporter for 25 minutes. Anonymous said...

Anon 728, wrong again. If you think Lee Terry gets a pass, you should read some of the comments that your Lib friends are posting about him. Maybe the Congressman gets a pass because the ONLY Union that will give him money is the IAFF and that is because of a long history of public safety votes.

You should check out his votes on actual safety issues while on the Council and in Congress.

They support based on who will suport them having the physical tools they need (whether that be safety laws or equipment) to do their job which is to keep the public alive during and after an accident-that's why hundreds of firefighters run into and toward burning buildings, bombed out skyscrapers and smoking cars.

I would guarantee the the person you most want to see when you are having a heart attack, when a family member is hurt while playing sports or when you or your child is in a car accident is a firefight.

Firefighters and Paramedics save lives, plain and simple. Maybe that's why they wouldn't endorse Tom White. He's more interested in causing fights after drinking than walking away-he even said that you should never walk away from a fight in one of the debate!

Anonymous said...

Ignoronymous at 9:57, right wing violence? WTF are you talking about? At that same debate where the Move-on chick was "footed" (not really a stomp, more of a shove) a different lib stomped (yes, stomped) on the walking cast of a female Rand Paul supporter and actually drew blood. The Move-on chick looked none the worse for wear, actually. But the libs drew blood. Same event.

And, if it didn't violate Sweeper's link policy, I could show you pictures of a Bobby Jindahl staffer with a shattered leg and her boyfriend with a broken jaw after they were attacked by libs following a Republican fundraiser at Brennan's Restaurant in New Orleans earlier this year.

And then there was African-American Tea Party supporter who was attacked and beaten up by some SEIU Union Thugs in St. Louis. That one was on video. And then there was the conservative blogger who was trying to ask questions of the Massachusetts Dem Senate candidate who was running against Scott Brown. He got decked by a Nat'l Dem Party consultant who was in town helping her with her unsuccessful race.

So, right wing violence? Bullshit. You'd maybe know more about what's going on in this world if you didn't get all your news and information from Chris Matthews and the Daily Kos.

Anonymous said...

Sweeper, with your permission, I'd like to somehow post a photo of the female Jindahl staffer writhing on the ground in pain with a broken leg while her boyfriend sits nearby with blood on his shirt and a broken jaw.

Nice picture showing what completely peace-loving and non-violent today's leftists are.

If the Tea Partiers were as non-violent as the leftists these days, that Move-on chick would be in the hospital rather than posing for news cameras.

Anonymous said...

By the way, the Jindal staffer who was attacked was a young lady named Allee Bautsch.

They broke her friggin leg. She had to have surgery. And some liberal twit from Omaha is having a case of the vapors over some Move-on chick who, by her own description, wasn't treated nicely.

Yeah, right wing violence. You betcha.

Anonymous said...

I hate wasting my valuable work time, but as usual someone must debunk some of the crap posted here. In the case of Allee Bautsch, the suspects are "2 dirty men" who sound like they were drunk and possibly homeless. Now I know that in many of your deranged minds, this is an accurate profile of all Democrats. There is NO evidence that the attack was by protesters at the Republican event. Now in Kentucky the buffoon who beat the MoveOn person until she had a concussion was Rand Paul's Bourbon County coordinator. And he now says that she should apologize to him! Typically you folks rely on twisting the facts to come up with some equivalence to brutish behavior sponsored by your candidates and their employees.

Anonymous said...

That "lame" campaign certainly kicked your ass.

Anonymous said...

Moronymous at 4:26, I know a good deal more about the attack on Allee Bautsch than you do, trust me. It was a politically motivated attack, pure and simple. I'd post links but those are discouraged around here. There was a large and aggressive group of protesters at Brennans than night. They tried to break into the restaurant and the staff had to barricade the doors. Allee and her boyfriend were followed from Brennans and attacked. They weren't robbed. They were beaten. Nice try, but you're the one who's full of crap.

Honestly, you Republican people are turning into a bunch of pansy-livered Democrats. Think about what going to the polls means in Afghanistan or Iraq, shut up, sign your petition and cast your vote. Are you really that frightened? Your corporate masters have already bought this election and the next 3 after that.
If you want to worry about something, worry about this: The Bush Supreme court has allowed Big Labor and the Fortune 500 to disenfranchise an entire country of voters. The only way that will be undone is with bloodshed and bullets.

Anonymous said...

8:59, that's strictly your opinion that's not backed up by any credible news reporting. I've scanned through quite a few articles in coming to my conclusion. Some of the attackee's fellow Republicans made the comment that "she deserved it", so it would be just as credible to believe a fellow Repub did this. After reading many articles on this, it just appears to be a random beating by homeless men. But no surprise that your view of your "facts" differs from reality. A common trait I've found in right-wingers is the inability to see the truth if it conflicts with pre-conceived notions and ideology.
