4th of July 2010

The rainy 4th of July produced a dearth of parade photos from your favorite pols.
We received few, and the ones we did receive were fairly...lame.

Thus, no awards to anyone.
Ah well. Maybe next year.

Nonetheless, here ya go...

Lee Terry at J.E. George in Omaha

Tom White at J.E. George

Adrian Smith at Oshkosh

Mark Stoj in Seward

Don Stenberg in Tekamah (his hometown) and Ralston.

Thanks to all who sent in pics!

Gloomy is what will be wiped away in Nov!

To be clear, that is not JE George. I have been to JE George and I am pretty sure that is a neighborhood void of alleys and garages.

"I know JE George, and that, Mr. White, is no JE George!"

Wait, so, is $toj running for state treasurer or is he trying to be the head of a circus? What an awful looking banner which matches his website. Yikes. Nice hate too.

You're right. Amazing boredom and it wasn't the rainy weather's fault, but the lack of passion and imagination of those that wish our attention would be theirs. To think someone is actually getting paid to not try or think anything new.

Glum.

I think Mark Stoj looks like a typical Nebraskan in this photo.
Whereas Don Stenberg has three people in his parade, probably his grandkids he made attend.
Doesn't Stenberg look like the conservative Republican good-ole-boy we are trying to get away from here in the Cornhusker state?
Let's not get go back in time and choose Don Stenberg to a state office again.

Ricky, Stenberg looks like the kind of conservative Republican that YOU are trying to get away from in this Cornhusker state.

Don Stenberg has lost races to Republicans and Democrats. He isn't every Nebraskan's cup of tea. But you target him as a “conservative”. You expect Nebraskans to move away from conservatism but toward what? Liberalism ala Obama?

You been smoking bad weed. Get treatment.

Adrian Smith may be the worst congressman in the history of the United States. He is the worst congressman in Congress right now. Out side of voting the way Eric Kantor tells him. What has he done?

Anonymous said...

A.(drone) Smith is a very bad congressman. He is not dumb like Sara Palin. But he does nothing in congress except pick up a pay check. Does he have any real values out side of toeing the right wing line and getting paid?

Anonymous said...

So Republicans
you seem to think people should get away without paying taxes.
Never mind that when the super rich and the corporations avoid paying their fair share, the burden falls on the rest of us.
That is what the "Dems" care about. Something so simple merely goes over your head, doesn't it?

I am amazed on what a republican will say. They must really believe that their stink does not stink. Who put us in this financial crisis in the first place? Who came in to office with a $500+billion surplus, and left it with trillions dollar debt. Who started 2 wars, cut taxes for the rich, passed a Medicare prescription drugs bill, and and DID NOT PAY FOR any of them? And all of this is Obama's fault?

Well Levi and Bristol are getting married. And they did not tell the mamma grizzily. Love it! Another slam to Sarah Palin, exposing the truth about her. Her daughter was intimidated and afraid of how she might react so she tells US Weekly first...tells you a whooooooole lot! Happy for them and hope it works out.

Anonymous said...

Levi and Bristol got paid to be on the cover? Well, don't the Palins always follow the money.

Anonymous said...

Levi...

If she really loves you...she won't allow her mother to force you to sign a prenup.

Those tea partiers bought a lot of books they don't know how to read...you are "entitled" to it.

Anonymous said...

Boy, this Palin family has an insatiable need for attention. Second only to money, seeing as how Bristol got paid to do this stunt.

Since BP is in the terrorist helping business what is the chance that Joe Barton will apologize to the families of the people on that flight now? NOT! All 270 of them, many were teenagers from Long Island, New York. I remember it well. All for the love of OIL from Libya. Now will America wake up to the greed of corporate America? Not if you are watching the spin on FOX

Sarah Palin and her family are the political equivalent of the Kardashians.

I remain amazed that the conservatives and the media give here the slightest bit of credibility. Truly, she is a lightweight of the highest order of magnitude.

To deny that is to ignore reality.

Sarah Palin's name will never be on a ballot again. It's all about the $$$ now. Everything she's doing now is to increase her visibility and bankability.

Nothing but a slow striptease.

As for her resignation as AK governor, it was obvious that her managers convinced her that she was at the top of the market last summer in terms of what she could earn from books/appearances etc, and that the time to cut those deals was the, while her image was trading high. Financially, an astute move.

Politically, not so much.

She is hot, though.

It looks like Jane Kleeb has some competition from Colorado....lol

"OK Team! Here's our plan! We bomb Leavenworth Street with comments on our Theme Of The Day! Today's Theme is "Sarah Palin" (because she's so dumb). Got it? Good! Now go out and show Leavenworth Street how much we can type!"

Nah, just a lot more interesing than this years Parading photos.

Anonymous said...

No, the theme is that Adrian Smith is dumb. Sara Palin is dumb. Any one who votes Republican is dumb. Really simple Got it?

Hey, don't hate on the parade photos! It's not our fault we had few responses. But there did seem to be a lack of originality this year.

Oh, and I think the "concerted effort" by the liberal comment crew is cute. Gee, I wonder if it has anything to do with a new liberal group that was unveiled??? Hmmmmmmm.

NE Voter said...

No coordination that I'm involved in, SS. Just having fun with the absurdity of the day.

And, no, I certainly don't blame you for the photos. Rainy 4th kinda killed the parades this year.

For the record, I've never met/spoken with Jane Kleeb. Or Scott for that matter.

Street Sweeper said...

Who?
Oh, that.
No, I was thinking of another group.
More in the new post later this morning!
(Oooooh, what a teaser!)

Anonymous said...

Which liberal group Sweeper? They are both carpetbaggers!!!!

Tired Democrat said...

NE Voter, you haven't missed much. I've met both of the Kleebs and they're not near as impressive in person as you might think from their photographs.

I think the guy who has been trolling here lately should start his own blog. He's got so much to say and I'm sure that everyone will flock to it to hear him speak truth to power. He's so intelligent and insightful! All his posts are fresh and refreshing! Enlighten us more!

Anonymous said...

Your right Tired Democrat, the wrinkles are growing by the day.

Anonymous said...

How many other states have the kleebs collectively left?

4 and the District that I can come up with.

How many did Barry Rubin get asked to leave before he went back to D.C. to make even more money?

Rainy Days and Sundays don't make for good parading. Activities should be moved to Saturday when the celebratory day falls on a Sunday.

Husker Joe said...

When I go to the Husker Games in Lincoln is that the Kleeb's holding the banner "Coloradans for Nebraska"!!!!

Fox News contributor and host of Fox Business' new libertarian show Judge Andrew Napolitano said over the weekend that President Bush and Vice President Cheney should have been indicted over their administration's conduct around Guantánamo Bay. WOW! if FOX said it it must be true. Right GOP?

Anonymous said...

I never thought I would be saying this, but "Bravo" FOX network. Both Bush administration members should be indicted and be jailed at Gitmo, waterboarding, anyone ???

Anonymous said...

If you want an investigation into Bush and Cheney--then you need to vote for democrats this November, otherwise the Republicans will do what they always do--nothing unless it involves a Democratic President. It would not even surprise me if the Republican's take the reins of Congress that they open an investigation into the President's birth certificate. We have seen this movie before and if you want to see it again...vote for the Repub's cuz they will stop at nothing to weaken or bring down a Democratic President. If you don't want to see the movie again...mobilize your fellow dems and let them know whats at stake...

Anonymous said...

I am glad to see that finally somebody is coming out of the Fox Hole to utter the truth bluntly

Anonymous said...

We need to Waterboard Jane Kleeb to find out who is funding Bold Nebraska.

Anonymous said...

Great to hear that they still made it out in the rain. I didn't realize that we voted for politicians based on their appearance. I have been a customer of Stoj's for years and he is the right guy for the treasurer. He has years of professional experience as well as a Masters degree. I would focus on something other than the outward appearance.

Anonymous said...

Do you all really think Sarah Palin DIDN'T know about her daughter getting engaged? I'm sure she got Bristol the cover story! Now, in the public's eye, she can "hear" of their engagement, then be a supportive mama grizzly, and everyone will love her for it. She's doing this all for show. And I do hope she's on the ballot again someday.

Anonymous said...

Lame day for photos. Photogs protect their equipment.

How about another contest? Candidates with voters. Best candidate with kids shot? Best kid shot for a candidate that can't vote, but will someday?

Make it for all summer, parades or not.

How fun would that be?

Anonymous said...

Why do we pick on someone for appearance? If the person is RIGHT for the job, then that is all that counts. Stoj is the right candidate. He has the background and plus he isn't a dumb politician. He looks like he is having fun. Why are putting him down for that?
