Kleeb protests her meeting with MJ

Jane Kleeb wasn't content to have a meeting with Senator Mike Johanns to discuss health care on Friday.

No, SEIU rep Kleeb brought her own protesters to the hospital where the meeting took place.

And then the unthinkable happened: a Johanns staffer gave the protesters a "dirty look".

Finally, all heck broke loose. Hospital security came over and crushed the protest using billy clubs, tear gas and the latest in urban crowd control.

Or maybe they politely told them to move a few feet from the hospital entrance (those jack-booted thugs!).

But Kleeb is absolutely 150% sure it was Johanns who "called the cops". Why? Because MJ only gave a passing greeting to the people protesting him, instead of sitting in a circle with them and holding hands.

Johanns's peeps point out that MJ meets the likes of Kleeb's protesters all the time and could really care less where they stand.

Oh, and by the way, Kleeb bringing protesters to her own meeting with Mike Johanns has absolutely nothing -- zip, nada, nil -- to do with the fact that Johanns crushed her husband in the Senate race last year. Nope, nothing to do with that. Uh uh.

(By the way, after Kleeb spent who knows how long blogging about this on Kos and talking to TPM, we would note a few things about her "record":

1) 10 people? Counts from your photos looks more like 6.
2) Homemade signs? Well, "homemade" if your home includes a six foot color plastic sign printer -- and is that fitted with grommets?)

***

Tom White is now officially-unofficially in the race for Congress against Representative Lee Terry.

And GOP Chairman Mark Fahleson had the line of the day in his Twitter:
Tom White plans to run as Tommy Obama?
Sure you see White says he can win big as a pro-life, pro-death penalty Democrat, just like President Obama.

What?

Uh...well... White will be just like Obama and spend all your money hither and yon.

Hmm.

Well, White says he will win because "the Obama people are still here".

You know, the same people who are still waiting for the pull-out of Iraq, the closing of Guantanamo, open government and the end to "politics as usual".

Oh, and Columbus born White will totally bring out North Omaha in droves. That's clear. Right?

***

And in Don Walton's column this morn:

Representative Jeff Fortenberry:
“I love what I do and I’d like to continue to do it. I’m running in 2010.”

Don't forget the Obama promise to sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) as one of his first acts for the women of this Country. You know, the one that he referred to in the article last year when he said he wanted all women and young girls to have choices, but we are not talking about his daughters. (Does anyone have that footnote? I believe it was Spring when it hit the papers?)

Tom White must choose which leaders he supports just like the voters of the 2nd District must choose their leaders.

Does State Senator Tom White support his President, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid in their support for FOCA? How does he plan to stop them in their tracks toward allowing abortions at all stages and for whatever flip of the coin happens and keeping it all a secret from a girl's parents regardless of her age. Tom White, do you support the Democrat position on this subject? Should my next door neighbor's 12 year old daughter be able to get an abortion without telling her mom and dad? How about your neighbor's 12 year old daughter?

Let's move on to a less emotional issue. Crap, Tax and Spend? Would you have voted against your leadership on this terrible Bill? Would you have supported your constituents? Would you have supported the Energy companies in the Midwest that have so clearly stated the case on this subject? Be honest Tommie Obama, it is not as easy to be Ben Nelson in the House of Representatives. Pelosi has a MUCH shorter leash on her men than Reid does (the women just follow Pelosi like little wannabes, no leash required).

On to Healthcare. Do you support destroying the insurance industry in this country (the only one left making any money for this economy!)? How about the insurance industry in this State? In Omaha?

Come on White, we want you on the record early-way before you take money for your votes in the Legislature for your last session next Spring.

Pay attention Tommie, everyone else is.

FYI Nebraska: SEIU was founded by Wade Rathke who also founded a little known community group known as ACORN.

These are some very bad people and as a former Scott Kleeb voter I am exceptionally disappointed to learn that his wife is a part of this group.

I thought Scott Kleeb stood for "Nebraska values"? ACORN and SEIU are NOT NEBRASKA VALUES!

Anonymous said...

Yeah, Glenn Beck has done a great job revealing the SEIU-ACORN connection and how they slowly infiltrate a community or state in order to set up their individual shell games.

If SEIU is in Nebraska, and apparently they are if Jane Kleeb is taking a paycheck from them, then you can darn well bet that ACORN is as well.

Is anyone else freaked out by this?

Being a Democrat, I find the tactics being put into use rather childish and not representing the best interests of SEIU or the labor movement in general.

You don't go around striking fashionista poses in front of security guards while protesting if you want to be taken seriously.

Apparently, though it was successful, in the fact that the security guard looks like he is whistling since JK or I mean JFK (wow that is scary) found a pair of slacks that hide the kankles while showing off her GREAT ASS.

If you can't be taken seriously in policy, be taken seriously in fashion ladies.

A fashion show, a you tube video, what's next street tagging???

If they keep it up, they're going to do more damage to the union movement in Nebraska than police and fire spiking has done.

Michelle Obama's designer must have spent their internship with Barnum and Bailey. Her white Inaugural gown screamed of... gauze...glue and a random "drive-by" that involved a bag of cotton balls and a sling shot. I don't remember any mention of a D.C. "Paramedic Ball" that evening.

And the media with their high falootin' camera lenses haven't yet noticed that she would have to turn sideways to enter most Nebraska barns? Someone should be replacing their Nikon lenses.

To compare her "fashion sense" to Jackie Kennedy's is absurd.

There I said it...it took me almost a year...but I said it. Anyone who refutes me better set up an eye exam before government takes away your health care.

What has it come to for you guys, EVERYONE gets insulted? even the people you used to hide behind to launch your partisan attacks?

btw -Why isn't Fahlson out intimidating the sarpy county assessor again anyway?

Anonymous said...

It sounds like it's Jane that's lying. The LJS news piece had Jane's spokes girl say:

Mandy later called the allegation that Johanns staffers had called campus security “an assumption on my part.”

“But I believe that it was because Johanns’ staffers came out and kind of looked at us when we were setting up and gave us a dirty look, and about five minutes later, the security guards showed up,” she said.

Jane said on Daily Kos it was she that spoke to the security guards and she would never assume.

But UNMC spokespeople verified Johann’s staff had nothing to do with it. They would have checked before speaking.

Common sense makes one ask why would Mike Johanns staff call them in when Jane was invited to participate in the roundtable? Jane was just eager for the spotlight since her hot rancher lost to the better candidate. It’s sounds to me that it’s Jane that lying.

OK, here's some politics

Lest we forget, Tom White's most significant act in the unicameral was to propose removing the age limit on Arnie Stuthman's LB157, Nebraska's safe haven law, thus making it possible for parents of out-of-control teens anywhere in the country to come to Nebraska to dump them on us. And, of course, he made Nebraska a national laughingstock in the process. This was an act of pure legislative laziness; White didn't want to sit down and craft a properly-written bill, and so he turned LB157 into this:
No person shall be prosecuted for any crime based solely upon the act of leaving a child in the custody of an employee on duty at a hospital licensed by the State of Nebraska. The hospital shall promptly contact appropriate authorities to take custody of the child.
Nebraska had to convene a special session at considerable expense, purely to undo White's mischief. Now he wants to run for Congress. Why? So he can write horrible laws on a national scale?

Tom White for Congress 'Exploratory Committee' is not in compliance with FEC Regulation unless he has filed as official candidate and is just using the term 'exploratory'.

According to pages 1-3 of 2008 FEC Campaign Guide Mr White is campaigning by using the term Tom White for Congress and asking contributions for his campaign on his web site.

According to FEC, these actions and statement make him an official candidate and needs to file the proper statements of organization and financial reports now.

If a.candidate is simply not registered for the activity they are engaged in, then any citizen has the right and responsibility to notify the FEC.

Go forth and enforce Barney Fife!

Anonymous said...

Hey "Rota" aka David Boomer,

Maybe you'd better pay attention to your own candidate before going after someone else.

According to the FEC records available online, Lee Terry has failed to file his Statement of Candidacy for the 2010 race, yet he is fundraising.

This is not the first time he's done this. In 2001, 2003, and again in 2007, the FEC had to send letters stating the following:

This letter constitutes formal written notification that Lee Terry for Congress is filing reports of receipts and disbursements (FEC FORM 3) that appear to be for the 2008
election.

A review of these reports indicates that your principal campaign committee has no debts from the previous election cycle, and has accepted contributions and/or made expenditures in support of your 2008 candidacy in excess of $5,000, thus meeting the
definition of "candidate" per Federal Election Campaign Laws. (11 CFR § 100.3(a))

You must either disavow these activities by notifying the Commission in writing that you are not a candidate, or redesignate your principal campaign committee by filing a Statement of Candidacy (FEC FORM 2) within thirty (30) days from the date of this'
letter.

Tom White, if he hasn't filed already in the last week, has until he raise $5,000 to file. Lee Terry, however, appears to once again be in violation of law, and has been warned repeatedly in the past.

Better get your own house in order before you accuse another.

2) Yeah, White's role will be to take a shift in Pelosi's Naughty Closet. She may tolerate his attitude publicly, but nothing he wants will ever see the light of day if he crosses her. just look how she bailed on Boyda of Kansas last year. Madame Pelosi doesn't tolerate turncoats.
3) As a Republican, I would say this is your only legitimate claim. If I were a female in your Party, I would slap you silly. You are an arrogant SOB, aren't you?!
4) As far as the numbers go, Omaha, and Douglas County for that matter, are not the only part of the 2nd District. Let me know when you get one of those TWELVE THOUSAND Republican voters in Sarpy County to vote for your boy that wrote the language that put Nebraska in the Hall of Shame nationwide for his asinine Safe Haven Law. How much did that cost Nebraska taxpayers? I guess Tom White can be proud that his idiocy got us mentioned in the dying year of ER and made us the laughing stock of the entire Country (and I am sure Canada too!).
5) That is exactly why the voters of this District will not let Lee Terry lose. They have someone that they can be proud of and someone they can trust. You never trade a bird in the hand for two in the bush.

The 2nd District will keep the person they know and trust. White is so all over the place that no one knows where he will land on an issue.

Anonymous said...

Wow, the White folks must have really screwed up with the FEC to warn the Terry Team that they forgot to file a form that means they intend to run. The person looking for the form must be the only one that didn't know that Lee Terry was planning to run for reelection in 16 months.

I wonder how many forms you have to file when you decide not to run? Maybe Jim Esch could help us out with that one.

Gotta run, I have to go fill out a form letting my neighbors know that I intend to mow part of my yard today, and part of it tomorrow, then I have to go to Kinkos to make copies and the Post Office to send it certified to all of them.

After that, I think I should let the EPA know that I intend to do laundry, and I think that my kids threw some clothes down that were not actually dirty! I wonder if they will fine me for that?

Fired by state HHS, fired by SEIU...and now pushed out by CD3. What's the game plan?

Did you not see the reason Moody's gave to increasing the bond rating??

INCREASING THE SEWER FEES!

That is the reason we received an upgrade on our rating and a downgrade in the interest rate!

THEY RAISED OUR FEES!

Anonymous said...

Spreaking of "premature", hasn't Jim Suttle always had a problem in that department. For example signing a lease without looking at the interest rate!!!

Where's Lisa?

She's popping up over on Kyle Michaelis' blog, trying to re-invent herself as someone that worries about how others suffer from racist attacks. Evidently she has forgotten about her own anti-Hispanic rants to the Grand Island Independent some time ago.

Shouldn't it be like baseball?
3 strikes and you're out?

Suttle has already struck out his
3 chances, and we all know that he's not capable of hitting any home runs.

I think he should be kicked off the team.

A RECALL is now in order !!!

Anon 11:46 AM:

Don't kid yourself... he knew it was a 24% interest rate. He just didn't care... it's the taxpayers money --not his-- that he is spending. In fact, he most likely would not have bought it --if-- it were his own money.

And, it is even possible, that he knew the contract that he signed is in direct violation of City law.

PLEASE NOTE: These things that he has already done should ATLEAST show Omaha, that he very well may NOT be competent enough to be the mayor of Omaha. Incompetency, either by lack of knowledge, or lack of concern for the city, or by a personal deceptive character flaw. Any one of the above or all of the above may be the case.

He appears to just try to get away with whatever he can, then when caught in his act, he either plays dumb and/or tries to sweep it under the rug which ever way he can.

Does an apology make it right??? NO !!! And, would he mean it anyway? Maybe, maybe not... But, most importantly, an apology DOES NOT cure or fix what the whole point regarding this issue should be... he was deceptive, and, therefore, dishonest to the Omaha taxpayers.

p.s. You can judge a man's character by what he would do if he thought that he wouldn't get caught !!!

Finally! Suttle's lease, while still allowing us taxpayers to rip off the city of Omaha, got reset. I wonder if the CEO of GM, Obama, reset it himself in gratitude for the electoral vote he got from the CD2.

BTW, the most jaw-dropping statement of the Suttle admin was when Ron Gerard said that they "truly thought we had a one year lease." Wow. Excuse me, but are there any adults available down at City Hall? Are you people really that stupid?

And what a colossal waste of everyone's time because somebody had no clue how to buy a car.

I have read the lease. It is not ambiguous!!!!!

good suggestions for Seperated at Birth!

The irony is this whole vehicle debacle is that he wanted a Green SUV??? What an oxymoron of a statement. This Durango is no more a Green vehicle than my Jeep Liberty, except my Liberty gets better gas mileage than his "Green" Durango.

He is a joke of a Envionmentalist. Just like algore and those hypocrites who do nothing but talk about the environment, but do something totally different behind peoples back.

STUBBLE IS A JOKE! Toot! Toot!

Where heck is the conservative lion of the council Chuck Sigerson on any of this?

He fails to side with Stothert, wants the unndeeded spending at Lakes Zorinski and Cunningham, and now what on the car lease?

Someone is too comfortable in their position.

I think Chuck has Kermit Brashearitus!!! Go see a doctor Chuck you get along with Democratic mayors to well.

Ok everybody, settle down. I know you are already falling in love with Councilwoman Jean but let's keep it in perspective. She knitpicked and played to her popular sentiment, but that's really not that significant. If the Councilwoman helps solve the main issues such as crime, huge budget shortfalls then I will jump on the We Love Jean bandwagon.

Until then she isn't that impressive. Big freakin' deal. What next, oh Jim Suttle used a pen, why isn't he and his staff using pencil, that would save taxpayers 10 cents a day!!!!!!!!

Fiscal conservative said...

Sorry Suttle Staffer just above. Jean has already questioned several major spending items and called the Mayor on the carpet for violating the City Charter. Your miopic vision of budgeting won't solve the city's issues. EVERY DOLLAR SPENT MUST BE LOOKED AT!!!! There is a reason why the Millard School Board spends the least per pupil, has the best test scores, and has a sufficient reserve to weather any financial crises. IT'S CALLED LEADERSHIP!!!

Linda said...

Just some information: Newsweek put out the nations top 1500 high schools. Nebraska had 4 on the list Millard North, Millard South, Millard West and Westside.....all of Millard's high schools made the list and they spend the least per pupil!!!....talk about leadership!!!!

On July 2 Slate.com has an article about what the Presidents HIGHEST RANKED staffers earn, which is less than one of Suttle's, and not much more than many others, and they are running a country not a mid-sized city. He keeps saying "You get what you pay for." Does he mean like paying $60,000 for $40,000 vehicle, which he didn't need in the first place. It would seem to me that the staffers at previous salaries did a fine job, and even if they do get raises, why such a HUGE jump? In this economy people are happy to have a job. You don't eat steak on a hamburger budget.

"There's a rough formula for how much executive branch staffers make. White House salaries are on a scale associated with certain ranks. The top rank in the White House consists of those staffers who hold the title "assistant to the president." Twenty-two people in the Obama administration have that rank—including David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, and Jon Favreau—and they all get paid the same amount: $172,000.

Our constant criticisms of Mayor Suttle has made him become more arrogrant and is has a "bunker mentality". At what point do our attacks help further the public debate, hold elected officials accountable and to what extent does it only make them more isolated, defensive, gun-shy, etc.?

Let's make sure our criticisms are fair, well-thought out, meant to help the city, not embarrass the Mayor to score political points.

These are things we should keep in mind as we move forward. Remember how easy it is for politics to turn into a "blood sport". Its easy to knock someone down, but remember we are all human and we are all going make mistakes. Remember the staffers and family and friends -- how would you like to be the object of public scorn?

You must be nuts!! said...

WTF, Anonymous @ 12:34pm...Jim Suttle has always been an arrogant SOB!!! This is not about personality, it is about his poor decisions. The Lease that took 34 days and several revisions to get right, him choosing an expensive "green SUV" on the taxpayers dime when he personally drives a V-8, gas-guzzling Thunderbird, 24% intrest rate, HIRING MATT SAMP and attempting to hire GARY DISILVESTRO (enough said), hiring staffers at outrageous pay levels ($68K for a secretary!!!!), and violating the city charter!!!! This is all Jim Suttle's own doing and not his detractors.

What's an "algore"? Is that the same as an "envionmentalist"?
Public or private?

LOL, Jane Kleeb is the Democrats' Meredith Christensen! Good luck with that!LOL

I think the Mayor owes the citizens an apology for violating the city charter.

From today's OWH...This is the same guy who wrote the Learning Community Bill that takes Sarpy property tax dollars and pumps them into OPS...lol

"Sarpy County Board members signed an open-ended contract when they selected attorney Kermit Brashear to be their $350-an-hour pitchman to bring the minor league Omaha Royals to the suburbs. Brashear's law firm has racked up major league compensation, with a tab, as of last week, of $678,000."

Tom White won't be Lee Terry's most formidable opponent. That challenge will come in the primary. And it won't be from the south Omaha upstart Sakilosky. STAY TUNED........
