As the polls close, Rep. Lee Terry tells Joe Jordan he only sees one Republican pulling through the Mayoral primary -- based on voter registration.
"It would be a bit of a surprise to me if both people who come through were Republicans."

Final #s at 10:20 pm:

Daub: 15,516 -- 35.6%
Suttle: 14,910 -- 34.3%
Vokal: 12,263 -- 28.2%

***

FYI, in the 2005 Primary, about 42,000 votes were cast.
More registered voters today, but that's also the Obama effect.

My money is on Daub and Suttle advancing. You heard it here first (at least on diary 3 first)

Close race in Ward 6 between Thompson and Peffer...a bit of a suprise in the primary...also the largest voter turnout district in the city...wow

Dist 6 almost always has the highest voter turnout.

But while the vote tally is relatively close -- it's still 10%.

The return of Chip Maxwell. That's the big surprise of the night so far.

Don't underestimate "the Chip".

Other little surprises;

that Jerram is not doing better
that Peffer is close to Thompson
that Ben Gray is close to Brown

I'd agree about Chip, but look at the votes Rhoades is pulling in. Taking them away from Jerram.

Peffer's "close" is still 10% away (right now).

Question is, will Gray get the rest of the non-Brown votes in the General?

I think at least right now, the most interesting thing of the night is how well Jean Stothert is doing. While it is still early, I thought that it would be much closer.

a Fahey endorsement for Suttle in the general would clinch it for Suttle.

Maybe Suttle isn't as crazy as the Leavenworth Street blog tried to make him out to be. Your smear didn't work.

Street Sweeper said...

Don't expect a Fahey endorsement.

Smear? Hey, we only speak the truth.

Looks like all precincts have been counted. Jerram edged out Maxwell by 14 votes. Gray edged Brown by 12 votes. Daub and Suttle advance.
