If you have ever wanted to see a deer in the headlights without going to the country, watch the debate and concentrate on Sarah Palin.

Uh, no.
But has Biden had some sort of eye stretch thing to go along with this hair?

Anonymous said...

Hagel just got a shoutout from Biden.

Anonymous said...

Hair? Don't go there

Street Sweeper said...

Oh, I went.

I enjoy how Biden thinks Article One of the constitution defines the role of the VP...especially when Article One is all about the legislative branch

Article 1, Section 3: The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

Here is the Executive Branch:

Article. II. - The Executive Branch

Section 1 - The President

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. He shall hold his Office during the Term of four Years, and, together with the Vice-President chosen for the same Term, be elected, as follows:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

CARRY ON.

Im definetely partisan, but this went for Biden. When he flipped the windfall profits tax around her was great. She did prove to be good at times, especially at ducking and deflecting questions. Good job Joe.

quote of the night "Ive only been at this for 5 weeks". Way to show your ready to step in at a moments notice, apparently she needs more than 5 weeks to get ready for something.

I'll take the opposite position:

This was Biden's debate to dominate, and he barely held his own.

And then on the Afghanistan "surge" issue, where he was SURE he had Palin about the commanding general's position, he got KNOCKED back by Palin. (He's cut! The Russian's cut!) You could see it in his eyes.

But I couldn't figure out what the deal was with Biden's eyes...

Anonymous said...

Say it ain't so Joe!

Biden came off as a man who's been parsing his words and politically posturing since his college days many many years ago. Has he ever really thought just for his own conscience and not with the pollsters in mind?

Anonymous said...

Palin decided she'd still to lines she was force fed for the last week and wouldn't answer questions if she didn't want to. She got the name of the Afghanistan General (It's McKiernan, not McClellan) wrong. and what was it with her bangs moving everytime she blinked? And she blinked A LOT! And her voice is like nails on a chalkboard. If she was blonde, I could account for her lack of intelligence.

Biden sounded like a rehearsed arrogant political hack that can't think out of the beltway.

It appears Senator Biden thinks like Bill Clinton --- if you tell lies long enough and often enough people will believe them as fact.

Tonight, along with Biden stating that FDR spoke on TV in 1929, only the left leaning press will give him a pass.

I do agree with Joe on one thing. Even Biden recognized and stated in front of God and everyone that Hilary is a better VP choice.

We can vote for many things in this election. We can vote against ACORN stealings elections. We can vote against community organizers getting people into homes they cannot afford. But most of all we can vote against another big step toward socialism and bigger government.

Please vote for less government and less wasteful spending ---- VOTE JOHN McCAIN!!!!

I think Biden held back alot. Some of the commentators noted that as well, probably because he as debating a woman and he didn't want to seem like a cad. Biden wasn't there to deliver a knockout, he was their to attack McCain which is what he did. I dont recall him ever directly criticizing Palin. And i really despise her false 'folksiness' with her down home sayings and winking at the camera.

Sarah has the lefty radicals on the run. Check the link below. Larry Flynt of Hustler Magazine is so afraid of the dynamics of Palin as VP he has produced a porn flick with a Sarah look-a-like.

The Dems should be ashamed!!! First ACORN and now Pornography, both thieves of personal integrity.

You should talk about lying, Gretchen. You do it all the time. But then, I'm sure you're a paragon of virtue. Whatever.

Factchecking coming out shows that both had their misses, but overwhelming the flat out LIES came from PALIN, not Biden.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone in their right mind think that Joe Biden should be one heart beat away from the Presidency? The Dems have already rejected him countless times and for good reason. It's scary to think that what comes out of his mouth could have consequences. Geez, Joe. You can't just make stuff up!

Anonymous said...

Mac, speaking of what can come out of mouths can have consequences:

PALIN: Said a McCain-Palin administration "will support Israel," including "building our embassy ... in Jerusalem."

THE FACTS: Moving the U.S. Embassy from its present location in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a perennial promise of presidential candidates courting the Jewish-American vote. In fact, moving the embassy is actually required by U.S. law. But successive administrations of both parties, including George W. Bush's, have made the same pledge only to find that the realities of Middle East peacemaking have forced them to invoke a waiver to delay it. Jerusalem is claimed as a capital by both Israel and the Palestinians and Israel's occupation of east Jerusalem is not internationally recognized. The city's status is one of the key issues of disagreement in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

PALIN: Said the United States has reduced its troop level in Iraq to a number below where it was when the troop increase began in early 2007.

THE FACTS: Not correct. The Pentagon says there are currently 152,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, about 17,000 more than there were before the 2007 military buildup began.

PALIN: Said Alaska is "building a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline, which is North America's largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever to flow those sources of energy into hungry markets."

THE FACTS: Not quite. Construction is at least six years away. So far the state has only awarded a license to Trans Canada Corp., that comes with $500 million in seed money in exchange for commitments toward a lengthy and costly process to getting a federal certificate. At an August news conference after the state Legislature approved the license, Palin said, "It's not a done deal."

Ben, are you delusional? We on the left aren't scared of her. We are scared that she could be 1 cancerous heartbeat away from the presidency. When you believe the literal interpretation of a story book 2000 years old, i am honestly scared. Palin came off as a dumb@$$, using her looks to try and win over the camera and audience instead of focusing on policy. But when questions are asked that you havent prepped for thats all you can do. Biden answered the questions, she ducked dodged and dipped her way around them. Her missions were to somehow call McCain and herself a maverick at every chance she got, wink and flatout lie. She didn't win, not even close. The expectations were so down for her she looked halfway competant by merely making a complete sentence, and even that she wasn't always able to do.

Anonymous said...

She wants more power than Cheney.
She doesn't answer questions if she doesn't want to. She doesn't answer subpeonas. She truly is Republican VP material. She might as well be a Chatty Cathy doll, that keeps pulling her own string till she gets to the prescripted answer.

You gotta give her style points. Winking, blinking, and nod. About the only thing she missed was "accidently" dropping something on the floor and giving a gratuitous leg or cleavage shot.

My favorite moment was her support of teachers. After throwing all public education under the bus during the convention speech, she suddenly becomes a PTA mom. Her kids have been home schooled but she made it clear they were in schools, now. I expected her to pull out Miss Linda's Romper Room mirror and start reciting Romper, Romper, Romper do.....and giving a shout out to little Tommy in Moose Jaw, or a Happy Birthday to Sally in Wolf Creek.

She lost me when asked about her Achilles Tendon and Nuclear proliferation and she went back to Bullet One and Bullet Two, reform and Mr. Maverick.

Her spin doctors have been saying we couldn't expect much from her, and they have been lowering any expectations. They were right. Sarah Palin, you truly have reached your highest level of incompetence.

Anonymous said...

Disappointing. I was hoping Mr. Hi-IQ would make Truman President during WWI, encouraging the troops in Europe via the internet.

Anonymous said...

Anon 12:43 Well it's good to know that Joe Biden reads Leavenworth Street and leaves comments on it. Not sure what point you're trying to make about the embassy in Jerusalem. As for the number of troops, there were 140,000 US troops in Iraq at the beginning of 2007 and it's down to 144,000. Oh, she was off by 4000. You got her there! As far as the pipeline goes, she said Alaska is building it. Is planning not included in the building part? I know that the Dems just make it up as they go along, but the rest of us try to plan for things.

On the other side of the ledger, we have Biden claiming that we and France pushed Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Maybe on Bizarro World. He wanted the UN to fill the void. I'm pretty sure he was referring to ISRAEL going to war against Hezbollah recently. The UN was actually there before the invasion as they are now. They have been spectacularly, though not unexpectedly ineffective. He said that Bush sent a high level diplomat to meet with the Iranians. Not true. Of course, he had to amend his earlier statement that they met in Iran, but the envoy was there as an observer only, not to meet. I'd hope that Biden would know the difference and know that in diplomacy, words actually do matter. Loose lips start wars. Of course, Biden wouldn't mind that since he wants to drag us into every hell-hole in the world. He said that Israel doesn't have a better friend than him. Was that friendship when he threatened to cut off all aid to Israel?

I don't have time, and there isn't enough server space to go through the rest of his lies and misstatements, but Biden is a loose cannon whose mouth will cause plenty of trouble as Vice President. Even more if he were to become President. He's used to being in the Senate and generally ignored. He's nowhere near ready for the next level. And remember, many, many Dems have agreed with me.

Anonymous said...

And another thing. Biden's insistence that he only voted to go to war in Iraq to give Bush more leverage and that he didn't think Bush would use it is revisionist history of the highest degree. I think an honest person would call that "lying."

But, hey, he didn't wink! Of course, he couldn't what with the botox and fresh eye-lifts. See? Republicans can be catty, too. So if the Dems want to go there rather than debating the issues...

Anonymous said...

And Biden claimed that Obama never said he'd meet with Imanutjob without preconditions. Flat. Out. Lie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1dSPrb5w_k

But, you know, whatever. They're just words. I did notice, however, that the questioner didn't ask to hear what Biden had to say about it.

"Look, we have spent more money -- we spend more money in three weeks on combat in Iraq than we spent on the entirety of the last seven years that we have been in Afghanistan building that country.

Let me say that again. Three weeks in Iraq; seven years, seven years or six-and-a-half years in Afghanistan. Now, that's number one." - Joe Biden, last night.

US spending in Afghanistan in the last 7 years: $172 billion. Spending in Iraq in 3 weeks: $7.5 billion. Now I'm no math major, but...

Do you guys want me to go on? Or do you want to get back to work trying to unhitch Kleeb and Esch from Reid, Pelosi, and Obama?

Anonymous said...

Palin did a decent job, better than most expected, but when she did not feel comfortable with answering a question she reverted to one of her 3 programed responses-

Option 1- Remind everyone for the zillionth time John McCain is a maverick

Option 2- Talk about energy

Option 3- Tell us again what state she hails from

Anonymous said...

Anon 2:01 : That's a helluva lot better than makin' s*** up like Biden did.

Anonymous said...

Well Macdaddy, you should re-read the quote from Biden that you posted at 9:15, and it will all be explained there. US spending for Foreign Aid and Diplomatic Ops in Afghanistan is 12.4B. Total spending in Afghanistan is 172B, but if you will re-read your quote you will see where Biden pointed out the difference. To be fair that is more than the 8.59B we are spending in three weeks in Iraq currently. You should read what you type more often. Your welcome

And now the dumb broad commonly referred to as Sarah Palin is saying that KATIE COURIC was to hard on her and she felt "clobbered"... KATIE FRIGGIN COURIC WAS TO HARD ON HER??? My god if she were to be interviewed by Olbermann she would breakdown and cry!!! Tim Russert would chew her up and spit her out, but true to fashion he would do it politely and with a smile on his face. Actually the McCain campaign wouldn't let her be interviewed by Russert because they know what would happen.

Anonymous said...

Macdaddy, here is another one for you. But this is from the liberal media so you shouldn't pay attention to this one.

ASG: thanks for proving my point that Biden is just making shit up. I did reread it and he wants to parse out rebuilding in Afghanistan against combat ops in Iraq? That's comparing apples and oranges. And it's quite unfair to exclude combat ops in Afghanistan. No security, no rebuilding of any kind. So it's kind of a stupid point to try to make for such a smart guy in the Senate. So here's my very fair appraisal of the point Biden was trying to make: he was trying to sneak one past us. That's pretty shameful. If this administration is so bad, why twist things around? Again, Biden should not be anywhere near the Oval Office. And he's the smart one of the pair.

Anonymous said...

Mac, clearly you are the one making shit up. Biden was a couple billion off on his figures, you were 165.5B. Biden was talking about the reconstruction of Iraq, as your carefully selected quote points out. You forget what you read and typed. Just admit you were wrong, your not going to win this one.

Anonymous said...

Mac is delusional. He thinks because Palin is pretty, winked at him and said "year, sure, youbetcha" that she spoke nothing but 100% truth.

I've got a bridge to sell ya Mac.

Anonymous said...

I bet i know where that bridge is going...

Anonymous said...

I read those reports and I see Biden's point. And his point is even more odius since it appears he was deliberately using a cheap debating trick. Glad to know he is an "honest" broker. His time in the Senate has served him well. The rest of us Americans, not so much. Thanks for reminding me why I will never vote for another Democrat as long as I live.

I hope that Obama will respond to Palin's lies about Obama's past by pointing out that Palin's husband wanted Alaska to separate from the U.S.A. (just a few years ago) and her church is led by a guy who started his church by running a woman out of town by claiming she was a witch. And Palin speaks in toungue for god's sake. People who speak in toungue need to get their heads checked, and I'm pretty sure even most of you right wingers would agree with that if you weren't such ideologues. That flute playing, five colleges-in-six-years bafoon needs only to look in the mirror to see an unpatriotic, simple minded idiot. And if you support that...how simple-minded and ideological are you?

John Mccain - "I'm very proud to have Pastor Hagee's support." John Hagee - "I learn from the Bible that the children of Israel were punished by God for their iniquities." and, on the topic of Catholics..."A Godless theology of hate that no one dared try to stop for a thousand years produced a harvest of hate." So go ahead Palin, attack Obama on one of his supporters. By the way, unlike McCain, Obama NEVER came anywhere close to saying he was proud of his association with Ayers, unlike McCain who is proud of his association with this hate-mongering freak of a pastor. Palin is right...the choice is clear.
