LT-TV - Veterans and Endorsements

Lee Terry has two new fifteen second TV ads up.
The first on Veterans, the second on the OWH's endorsement.

Take a look at them below.

We like the 15 second format. With all the ads flying by now, it allows the overlaoded viewer to commit less time, but still get the full message.

And, after all the bull Jim Esch has been chucking about Terry's record on veterans issues, it's nice to see him hit back.

Well, this Veteran does not endorse Lee Terry for multiple reasons.

Although I live in CD3 and will be voting for Jay Stoddard, this veteran wouldn't be endorsing Lee Terry either.

For what it's worth, this veteran does live in the CD2, and this veteran does endorse Lee Terry.

Why don't you at least tell us why you do not, and would not, support Lee Terry?

As for BB, I think he is in a much larger Club of those that do support Congressman Terry.

Jay Stoddard? Hmm....never heard of him. Maybe if the democrats want to actually win races they ought to run a freaking campaign in the third.

This veteran would vote for Terry...but instead is canceling your vote for Stoddard.

Jay Stoddard is a nice man but doesn't have what it takes to represent the Third. His few runs for office haven't involved much more effort than filing the papers to run...throw up a couple of billboard signs and reply to any political questionnaires. It's like he is bored and wants something to do for a few weeks then take a nap.

This veteran lives in CD2 and is not supporting Leester.

Reason 1: Lee Terry is a buffoon.

Reason 2: Lee Terry supports bailout after voting against it. Costing taxpayers $150 billion additional dollars of pork barrel spending.

Reason 3: Lee votes against allowing the federal government to negotiate lower prices for medication on the Part D Prescription Drug legislation. Even though the VA that he supposedly supports, does this for Veterans.

Reason 4: Lee Terry votes against 2008 Energy Bill after wasting taxpayers dollars flying back and forth to Washington, D.C. pressing Pelosi for a vote. What ever happened to the reciepts he was going to take to Pelosi?? A failed and stupid stunt.

Reason 5: Lee Terry supports failed Bush economic policies over 90% of the time.

Reason 6: When Lee Terry voted no on a bill that would have sent a strong message against the Burmese government, he blamed the voting equipment.

Reason 7: The assinine arguments/fights he picks with other members and those before his committee; makes him look like Pete "Raving Madman" Stark. Kind of scary and not becoming of a member of Congress.

Terry Opposed Expanding TRICARE to Thousands of National Guard & Reserve Volunteers

In 2005, Terry voted against a motion to expand access to the military's TRICARE health insurance program to thousands of reservist and National Guard members.

Despite the fact that more than 433,000 members of the National Guard and Reserves have been called up for active duty over the last two and one-half years, not all Guardsmen and Reservists have access to TRICARE.

A 2003 report by the General Accounting Office showed that 20 percent of all Reservists do not have health insurance, and 40 percent of Reservists aged 19 to 35 lack health coverage. According to the latest Defense Department data, 18 percent of activated Reservists have no medical coverage.

Currently, only those called up for active duty are eligible for the program. The proposal would have expanded military health care to provide access to TRICARE to most members of the Guard and Reserve and their families for a low fee. Terry Opposed Debt Assistance for Returning Guard & Reservists

In 2005, Terry voted against a motion to the 2005 bankruptcy reform bill to exempt members of the National Guard and Reserve from the means test in the bill if their debt was a result of active duty or was incurred within two years of returning home from their service.

The overall bill imposed a new means test on Americans who filed for bankruptcy protection. Those with incomes above the median for their state, and who could pay at least $6,000 over five years, would have to develop a plan to repay creditors. Previously, debtors had the option of asking a bankruptcy judge to erase their debts in return for forfeiting some of their assets.

Four out of 10 members of the Guard and Reserve forces lose income when they leave their civilian jobs for active duty. Many left for the war thinking they would be deployed for 6 months and have ended up staying for a year or even longer and may be shipped out again.

Additionally, many Guard and Reservists are self-employed or run small businesses and face the daunting task of reestablishing their businesses after their release from active duties. The 2 years after they return from service are the most difficult. [Los Angeles Times, 4/15/05; Statement by Rep. Schakowsky, 109th Congressional Record, pg. H2074, 4/14/05]

[S256, Vote #107, 4/14/05]

Terry Opposed Additional Job Assistance to Veterans Returning from Overseas

In 2005, Terry voted against a motion to a job training reauthorization bill to provide extra assistance to veterans who are returning from conflicts overseas. Many veterans returning from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq may need skills and training to obtain or retain their jobs while Reservists who have spent a year or more overseas have put their careers on hold to serve our country.

I'm a vet and I support Lee because he supports vets. He voted for H.R. 4986 which gave funding to vets. By the way 300+ Democrats and Republicans supported this bill.

Lee Terry has voted for increases in Tricare, the extension of medical benefits to retirees and dependents. He also voted for the FY2007 & FY2008 DOD bills the stopped premiums from increasing.

I'm a vet and I keep track of all these votes and they are important. It is laughable when Jim tries to say Lee doesn't support vets.

And I was at the news conference where the national VFW-PAC endorsed Lee. I was proud to see so many veterans there. Lee Terry is there for us and always will be.

If Jim Esch gets elected veterans will be left in the cold. It will be a very sad day.

I'm a vet and I know lots of others who will not vote for the real buffoon Jim Esch.Every vet knows Lee Terry is with them. Good try Jim, what's next? And how come I never hear you on the radio?

Anonymous said...

I heard Esch did a poll this week...what did it say? Why aren't THEY releasing the results? Something to hide?

Dear Anon ----- If your number one reason for voting against Lee is because he is a buffoon, I know there is no way you can possibly support a ticket with Joe Biden on it!!!!!!!!.

Joe is the MOTHER of ALL BUFFOONS in Congress.

My word of encouragement of the day is ----- even if you like Obama don't vote for a person that would allow our country to be embarrassed world wide by Joe Biden as Vice President.

We like the 15 second format

StreetSweeper likes something Lee Terry did? Oh man...this is my October surprise!

I believe we said we like the format. It would be secondary that Terry happened to do it, right?

Rumor is Esch poll showed Terry up by 6 points.....You Eschies want to confirm this????

Ryan the Angry Midget said...

Neither campaign is willing to release their internals on polling, which is a surefire indication that neither one can claim they are ahead. The most recent public poll (available on ) was within the margin of error, but there haven't been enough polls to know if this is a trend or an outlier. If the internals indicated a clear winner, neither candidate or their respective parties would be dumping all this money into advertising. Anyone seen a Scott Kleeb ad on anything other than BET this week?

Esch's poll had Terry up 1 point. They released it two weeks ago. Did you somehow miss that?

I liked the no-holds-barred approach of Terry's latest ad...Jim Esch has only worked 30 days in the past 3 years, etc. I wonder what countries Jim will visit after he loses this time to find opportunities for gainful employment?

Anonymous said...

It will be interesting to see who is eating crow next week.

What Anonymous 10:11 doesn't tell you is the votes he/she lists are procedural votes like adopting the "Rule" over the debate. Not substantive votes.

If Terry didn't have a great record for veterans, why would anyone think the VFW would endorse him?

(I hear the VFW looked at Esch, but that he didn't meet the minimum requirement: you have to have held a job for at least 40 days over a three-year period.)
