New Senate Poll

Oh sure you want the latest numbers on the Senate race between Mike Johanns and Scott Kleeb.

But first, a Separated at Birth, suggested by intrepid Leavenworth Street reader, Eric:

Daily Kos Idol, Scott Kleeb and American Idol, Taylor Hicks!

And now onto the polling numbers, as reported by Rasmussen Reports:

Mike Johanns: 56%
Scott Kleeb: 31%

When "leaners" are factored in, the numbers are:

Johanns 60%

Kleeb 34%

These are in comparison to the June 2008 Rasmussen poll which showed:

Johanns: 60%
Kleeb: 33%

Essentially unchanged from a month ago.

Johanns still going strong.

and returning out of state money raised by an alleged criminal. Go GOP!

Street Sweeper said...

That's what the Dems were asking him to do. They should be happy that he donated the money to a shelter, no?

Oh, and Kleeb's not the one that should be pointing the "out of state money" finger. More on that later...

High gas prices! Soaring deficits! No energy plan! George Soros! Go Nancy! Go Harry! Go Dems!

Tyler Hicks was a blow-out too ... but at least he was mildly entertaining.

Kleeb will not break 35% in the general.

Polls-Shmolls!

Scott Kleeb is going to win easily.

Remember, Democrat Brian T. Osborn guaranteed it.

After Johanns cleans Kleeb's clock in November, will he go away? Will we have to endure more Kleeb-mania, or will he fade into obscurity? Or leave Nebraska?

He makes me tired....

Johanns is the king of special interest and out-of-state money.

Who's Scott Kleeb? Never heard of him.

Anon at 3:42PM - Maybe you should leave Nebraska if it's so hard for you to handle that not everyone is a Republican puppet.

Sweeper! Take control of this place. These last few comments are not only moronic and un-funny but just downright gross.

Thanks folks.
Guess what. I have a real job where I'm not chained to my computer. So occasionally idiots get through. We delete as we can.
Unfortunate.
Keep up the discussion, if you can handle it.

Hey BB, if your 35% holds up, Johanns shouldn't brag. If a third of my customers wouldn't come to my store, and were unhappy with what I was doing, it might be time to listen to them. I think the numbers will be much closer. The Ne GOP "special ops" people have been hammering on Kleeb for quite a while.

Johanns has plenty of political dirty laundry. Its just a matter of time before its on the clothesline. Quite frankly, with three months left to go, I'm dissapointed the Klebbers haven't thrown the dog a bone.

I was talking with a pollster one evening who said if Kleeb is within 15 points with a month to go that the dirtiest campaign in the country was going to be in Nebraska. The Republicans can not afford to lose a senator from a Republican heavy state.

Something to think about.

Oh - and with regard to the 60/34 poll (favoring Johanns), I forgot to say:

bwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ...

Know how that brown thing circles the drain a couple times right after you flush? Out here in the third we call that a "Kleeb".

Say g'night, Scooter ....

Does this mean Scott Kleeb is a memeber of the (Sold My) Soul Patrol?

Anonymous said...

In two years we'll be saying about Scott exactly what we say about Taylor Hicks now......

"I wonder whatever happened to that guy. You never hear about him anymore."

SS ---- when comments are so disgusting, rather than delete why not paraphrase with a bit of humor as to why such were deleted, out of line or just pathetic.

Thanks

Anon at 6:36:
Are you high? Holding your opponent to less than 35% of the vote is solid victory by anyone's definition. So Johanns will have plenty to brag about after he earns the title of U.S. Senator and Scott Kleeb retains the title of Unemployed Cowboy Wannabe. And don't worry about this race tightening up; it won't. Your post refects the sad state of affairs for NE dems if you would be excited by getting 35% of the vote.

Johanns shouldn't take anything for granted. From The Messiah limping across the finish line, to the Dems impressively taking the House and Senate and subsequently putting their approval rating in the toilet, this is one fluid electoral season.

Please accept my nomination of Scott Kleeb as the "MILKING MACHINE" of the year.

Based on F.E.C. reports he has milked contributions from the Publisher of the Hastings Tribune, a dead Nebraska Senator, Exon, via his campaign chest and the most hateful man alive --- George Soros.

Is there a second?

Anonymous said...

Sounds too close to call if you ask a Kleebite.

Anonymous said...

I think getting money out of those groups is something to be admired. Every dollar that Kleeb takes from Soros and wastes on advertising on National Review Online is one less dollar that Soros has to spend on someone who actually has a chance. I second your nomination. We just need to come up with a prize...how about a case of Instant Breakfast?

Two points:

1.) I see todat that Don Walton of the Lincoln Journal Star continues his one-man Kleeb campaign. I'm fairly certain Walton has set a new world's record for the quantity of ink used on a 30-something, wannabe politician who has never held office. Talk about a man crush!

2.) Those of you who got your panties in a wad over distasteful comments left on one of more than a million blogs, you're taking yourselves -- and your blogging -- far too seriously.

If you ask any Democrat in the know, they will tell you this thing has been over since May 14th. Kleeb gave us no chance to win this seat. As Chuck Schumer told him, "You'd make a great congressional candidate."

The Kleeb campaign is trying like crazy to be the 'head' of the coordinated campaign. The truth is that they have been completely cut out of the loop, especially in the 2nd CD where there are competitive races for President/Congress/others.

Anonymous said...

Kleeb was a Congressional candidate and he lost. Did little Chucky Schumer make this prediction before or after the 2006 race? The fact of the matter is that Nebraska is a tough state for the Dems, especially given the direction the national party has taken. 2006 was their year and they won't have such great luck in 2008. Reid and Pelosi are working overtime to hand Congress back to the GOP. If Kleeb wants to win, he needs to get some better advisors and get off his behind to actually do something of consequence first. Esch could also benefit from that advice.

Anonymous said...

People in the Democratic Party are sick of Jane Flemming Kleeb.

Anonymous said...

Factoring in leaners, Kleeb has risen in the polls from 33 to 34 since June.

If he can hang onto this tempo as an arithmetic increase, Kleeb will achieve 51% of the vote in December 2009.

Anonymous said...

Taylor Hicks??? Don't you mean Scott Kleeb is like Clay Aiken!!!

Anonymous said...

There's only one "Clay Aiken" politician in this state, and he lives in Gering when he decides to spend time in Nebraska.

Anonymous said...

Wonderboy Kleeb amazed us all two years ago. Smith spent his wad in the primary so Kleeb and his spin advisors had 2 to 3 time as much money to TELL HIS STORY.

Instead of truly running on issues Kleeb ran against the Club for Growth. Kleeb spent 10's of thousands telling voters in Nebraska "Adrian's supporters are against agriculture" rather than just looking at Smiths votes and the ag groups that honored him during his 8 years in the UNI.

If you notice - Kleeb isn't even getting traction with the labor groups that he had two years ago. They know better than waste money on a flash in the pan. Even tho Scottie threw the average worker under the bus by selling out to the union bosses on the secret ballot issue.

Scott is still duping a few ---- but people are getting to know him just like we are getting to know Obama and steadily increasing his chances of NEVER getting elected in Nebraska ------ ever.

History tells us if you want to be a Dem U.S. Senator from Nebraska the road goes through the Governors Office not a professional campaigner who once rode a bull.

ADVISE TO SCOOTER --- get a real job and become part of the Nebraska community --- don't just talk about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh!!!! And it wouldn't hurt to become a Big Red fan rather than a Colorado Buffalo!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

If Adrian is the Congressman representing the 3rd District, I would rather see him in DC standing up to Pelosi and her band of liberal, socialist, commie and America hating thugs than back home in Gering.

Anonymous said...

Today's action in the House will deal a massive blow to the Obama/Pelosi/Reid/Nelson/Kleeb machine.

Republicans have until Labor Day to remind people why they're paying $4 for gasoline and $5 for diesel.

Fluff and media glitz can carry you only so far...

Anonymous said...

Kleeb's campaign is run by a bunch of young know-it-all east coast kids who think that what works in New York City will work in York, NE. The biggest problem he has is that he is listening to them instead of listening to real Nebraskans.

Scott ran a far better campaign in 2006 than what's been seen this year. A lot of third district democrats are feeling like they've been left at the altar and probably won't bother going to the polls. Too bad the guy we'll get on the rebound, although good with the kids, will be bad in bed.

Are you keeping a folder of "deleted comments?" Maybe you can post them in a "best of" story after the elections.

Uncle "W" has a good post breaking down the Kleeb contributions. Looking out my window toward Kearney I can still see the twin smoke plumes coming out of his ears from all the math work. He would be easy to find today.

We keep planning to give our critique of Kleeb's FEC report, and we keep getting distracted and pulled away. Hope to do it very soon.

Hey Sweeper,
When you do your critique, be sure and bring up Stephanies sudden rise in salary and seniority within Alltell. Even the world Herald talked about it this a.m. Johanns pushed through some of the most protective regulations for the telecommunications industry while he was Governor, and they are still lining his pocket. So much for free ,open markets and deregulation. No wonder we pay some of the highest phone, cable, and internet rates in the country. It is nice to know there is no room for conflict of interest in the Johann's camp.
