Allow me to put my psychic abilities to use here for the LS audience and predict BTO's next posting:

"blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah! blah blah blah blah blah, blah!! Blah blah I predict Jim Esch will beat the pants off of Lee Terry! Blah blah blah excitement in the Democratic base blah blah blah. Esch is no lightweight blah blah blah blah blah and Terry is vulnerable blah blah blah! Obama-mania blah blah blah blah."

Whew...it's rather taxing to think like a moronic Nebraska Democrat!

Rumor has it that Jimmy is moving in with his girlfriend. That means, he went from living off his parents, to living off his brother, and finally, to living off his girlfriend.

Whatever happened to that house that Jimmy was buying during the last election, you know, the one he was so "stoked" about getting? I guess it was just another pipe-dream.

Also, does this mean that he can no longer use the, "I'm not a professional politician" excuse for stupid behavior and violations of FEC laws?

Here's wishing Brylcreem Boy (a.k.a. state Sen. Tom White) would get in the 2nd District race. I want Lee Terry to expose Tommy for the phony he is.

Paul M.,

Sorry you had to strain you brain so hard. I can see from your posting what the Republican morons have to say about it:

"blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah! blah blah blah blah blah, blah, blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah! blah blah blah blah blah, blah!!!

At least us Democratic morons find a few other words to throw in there along with the blather. Oh, and yeah, I think Jim Esch CAN beat Lee Terry, especially when news like the report from the nonpartisan Children's Defense Fund Action Council which rates Mr. Terry at only 20% for his stands on issues that benefit children.

Street Sweeper said...

And just so we know where the Children's Defense Fund stands, one of their former advisors and Board members is...Hillary Clinton.

They are a left wing group that hides behind "the children" to demand their liberal agenda.

I wish Jim well, he is a nice guy and a decent person. With that being said. My prediction Lee 60% Jim 40%. He will do better than Max in Lincoln, but Lee learned his lesson last time. Message to Jim "you should have run for a smaller office first!!!"

Has anyone broken the news to the "bus-bench boy" that John Seiler bought them all, already?

This is truly too easy AND too fun!

Yeah, nothing dooms a candidates chances for re-election than a poor rating from the Children's Defense Fund Action Council!

High five on that one BTO!

And just so we can all be prepared, when will you start inserting the Halliburton references in your posts? Oh, and don't forget the always popular "Bush-lied-children-died" slogan as well.

Anonymous said...

Hey Paul M., thanks for bringing that up! You're beginning to make some sense. Let's not forget using the U.S. Constitution as toilet paper too.

I think, again, it will be an interesting race. I'm by no means predicting an Esch victory but I do think that there has been a significant uptick in Democratic Party morale since 2006, due largely to the caucus.

I do find the Esch freeloading claims ridiculous, because aside from them not really having anything to do with one's ability to perform the job of US Congressman, is that nepotism is (probably was, at this point) certainly part of the appeal for Lee Terry.

The guy was never exactly a working stiff, either.

Everyone has the opportunity to run for an office...that's why our country is called "America"! How come you Republicans got on the band wagon with Pete Ricketts and his Momma's money? Also, Johann's is running on Georgie's family money, so what's the difference between Esch and your Republican LOSERS?!!!?!!!

Anonymous said...

Mike, you mean like a school board, or something?

Anonymous said...

Who is Georgie; and Pete's money was his own. Esch has worked a total of 2 accounted for years since graduating with a 6 figure degree.

He terminated his FEC Committee with substantial debt and didn't work or have any income for over a year while running.

Yes, I agree that anyone can run for office, but not everyone is cut out to be a leader. Other than trying to ride a "throw them all out" wave (which he failed to do), Esch proved nothing in his last race and the only thing he is proving in this run is that he's a coat tail grabber and a "professional politician".

It will be interesting to see his reaction to getting his clocked cleaned in May by a political newcomer that didn't even live here until 4 or 5 years ago.

Anonymous said...

EXCUUUUUUSE ME anonymous!!!!!! Georgie, of course, is Bushy himself, who Johanns has his nose stuck up his "you know what" to get where he is at. Johann's has NO qualifications. Little Boy Pete has never made a dime in his life!!!!!!! If anyone has been a coattail grabber and a professional politician, it's Johanns!!! I think Esch, as Obama, has a tremendous aura about himself, and I betcha he is not going to get his "clock cleaned"!!!

Anonymous said...

It would be nice if that "aura" were that of a real man. One capable of original thought or at least the grown up ability to take care of one's self.

As for Johanns: Husband, Father, Grandfather, Lawyer, County Board, Mayor, Governor, Secretary. You're right, no qualifications.

Anonymous said...

As for Johanns: you mean copulate and suck ass?

Anonymous said...

Right On, Ronny R!! The only thing Johanns has ever done is kick poor people off of Medicaid, and milk moo moos at 4:00 AM! Maybe he should return to what he really knows how to do best.

Anonymous said...

It is beyond me why Johanns ever gets elected ----- every single one of his Democrat opponents is better qualified, better looking, more intelligent, more eloquent ---- IT just doesn't make sense.

He needs to be smarter like the cowboy whose HOMETOWN is Dunning. That brilliant young man can get people to donate to his progressive cause ---- even though the donor, Senator Exon, has been dead for 10 years. I am not sure if Big Jim still votes ---- but he still has an impact on Nebraska politics from the grave.

You are so RIGHT ON Ronny R ------ the Republicans are such losers!!!!! They will never be elite like us ---- so much smarter than everyone else.

Anonymous said...

Did BTO change his moniker to Ronny R? Or is Ronny his twin separated at birth?

Anonymous said...

HA, HA, Scott!! Johanns....Better looking??? (are you gay?), More eloquent??? (are you gay?), WHAT A JOKE!!! That guy puts everyone asleep when he speaks! Trust me, I have been there!! That's why the guy came to Nebraska, he had no chance in his Iowa HOMETOWN! Iowa would have never tolerated throwing the poor off of Medicaid.

Another poster boy for permanent title of "Also Ran" enters the Dem primary. Even compared to his Dem primary opponent, Esch is a total light weight. Will be fun to watch them both try to out Obama themselves in the primary, while Terry waits to crush either one in November.

The quality of comments on this board has really gone downhill lately.

Pick the level of discourse up, please. This is embarrassing.

MAINSTREAM NEWS HEADLINE: Governor Heineman blasts lawmakers for killing immigration bill

LEAVENWORTH HEADLINE: Squishy Republicans Vote In Favor Of Illegal Immigrants

In case you missed it, the Legislature's Judiciary Committee voted 5-1 on Thursday to kill Gov. Heineman's bill that would prohibit illegal immigrants from receiving welfare benefits (LB 963). The panel also voted 5-1 to kill LR224, a proposal from Sen. Tony Fulton that Nebraska law enforcement agencies cooperate with federal authorities in enforcing immigration law.

The following senators voted against both measures: Ernie Chambers (I), DiAnna Schimek (D), Amanda McGill (D), Dwite Pedersen (R) and Vickie McDonald (R).

Congrats to Sen. Pete Pirsch of Omaha for casting the lone vote to keep LB963 and LR224 alive.

Village,
I'll leave this up, just b/c maybe you're confused.

But this is not an open forum posting, and I'm not taking the post in this direction. If you have some urgent thing to post, go for it on your site or another site.

In this vein, any follow up on this will magically disappear.

(It's not that we care or don't care about this issue, it's just a principle thing. Thanks for your consideration.)

Esch indeed has a tremendous aura. He'd have less of one if he bathed more often.

Anonymous said...

Esch is a good guy. And how much worse can it get for Nebraska with some new direction and backbone. And seriously, if you look at the Nebraska Congressional delegation, the only one that's worth anything is Ben Nelson. Hagel makes some good points once in awhile, but he is not the Nebraska voice, being pals with Joe Biden and John Kerry - essentially considered a "sell out" by many Nebraskans (Jon Brunning would have kicked his ass in the GOP primary). Fortenberry is a jerk, who treats his staff like crap and has such a high staff turn-over that there is no way there is consistency in his legislative agenda with people coming and going all the time. reliable personnel.

Adrian Smith is a schoolboy who probably still has to ask someone in the Capitol where the bathroom is.

Lee Terry can't even kick the shit out of Jesse Jackson Jr, and picks on my boy Vince for absolutely no reason, thus embarassing our state infront of the World Wide audience of the wrestling extravaganza.

Mike Johanns will win the Senate seat but it will take him some time to catch up because he is sort of "too nice".

So - really, peeps of Omaha - you can't go wrong with Jim Esch. And ol' Bennie will coach him well in Washington, and it will be good for all of Nebraska. Jim Esch is the "Walk-On" program for the Nebraska Political Huskers baby - just like Bo is doing with the real thing.

Thank you Senator Nelson for contributing to this blog.

To --- Anon Bo Fan

With the great reasoning power you exhibited it is little wonder that this state is a Republican stronghold.

We have to come up with real issues rather than riduculing people and their ideas.

Our empty rhetoric of CHANGE needs substance not feel good BS.

I understand that the GOP would much rather run against Esch, but he isn't the only Dem running. Just thought I'd point that out.

Esch v Carter Prediction....with a short time left and maybe 200 people knowing who Dick Carter is, I would give Jim Esch a final vitory of 65-35 or 70-30. Unless Carter is a former Tv announcer, state senator, member of a family that sells tasty meat products nationwide, I just don't see him braking out. At least Jim can say he has won one election.

Anonymous said...

First it was "Kleeb-a-Palooza". Now it is "Fet-Esch".

Anonymous said...

It's not like it'd be tough for Carter to win the primary - if he goes negative on Esch; Jimmy has a complete glass jaw. The question is, will he?

Anonymous said...

So Carter has $40k for mail and $200k for radio and tv media? That is what it will take for him to gain name ID and push past Esch if Jim did nothing. Remember there are a lot of Unicameral seats, a Senate race, and the other Boards on the ballot. Give Jim credit he had a lot of volunters and he was at a lot of events. Also, where has Carter been since last fall. He has 3 months and then he is done. I stand by my assessment.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone know if Carter even filed today? Today is the last day and from what I had heard, as of Friday, he had yet to file.

We're monitoring closely and hope to have an update soon.

In the 3rd CD, Jay Stoddard and Paul A. Spatz filed as Democrats and Jermiah Ellison filed as a Republican.
