Democrats need not apply

First, an excuse to run a long ago suggested Separated At Birth:
State Senator Brad Ashford and Jerry Springer.

Just a quick post to point you to KMTV reporter Joe Jordan's blog, where he says that the Nebraska Dems have asked ANOTHER Republican to run as a Democrat for Congress.

Republican State Senator Brad Ashford turned down Dem E.D. Matt Conneally's suggestion that he run against Rep Lee Terry.

Jordan says:

The Executive Director of the Nebraska Democrat Party, Matt Conneally, called former United States Senator Bob Kerrey (D-,1989-2001) to see if Kerrey would
call Ashford. Kerrrey tells me he did call Ashford, but didn't ask Ashford to switch. According to Kerrey he just asked Ashford if Ashford was considering the move. Ashford tells me he told Kerrey, "No."

We get the feeling that Conneally is just standing outside the GOP HQ in Lincoln, seeing who walks out, and asking if they'll run for Congress.

Next on Jordan's blog: "Dave Heineman has turned down an offer to run as a Democrat against Jeff Fortenberry..."

Are you sure he doesn't look more like Ed Begley, Jr?

Weird...

Yes, an SAB with Ed Begley has been done, hence the reference to the previous SABs...

Since when isn't Ashford a democrat if not in name then in outlook and legislative initiatives???

I was thinking Ed Begley too...it was Ashford's wannabe hairdo that shouted Begley. Johanns a former Democrat running on the Republican ticket...Tony R. puts on the hat to fill the lackluster Democratic ticket...Now I am left with a quandary.

If Mrs. Kleeb only had a pair.

If I were Brad Ashford I would be running from the Dems too.

Big Labor owns the Dem party. And with all the money they are pumping into candidates the recipents are selling your soul and sellout liberty.

Case in point. The Dems lost me and many other progressives on HR 800 when the entire group of bottom dwellers voted to take away the secret ballot of working Americans.

Thank goodness we had the threat of a Presidential veto and the courage of people like Terry, Fortenberry and Smith defending the freedoms of people getting their hands dirty every day, working hard, making our country great.

Lee Terry has been at the top of his game--accessible to constituents yet active in his legislative business back in D.C. Everyone should know that the important energy bill that is going to pass Congress this coming week includes Terry's provisions to raise fuel economy standrds in cars for the first time since the 1970s. Good job, Lee!

Brad Ashford is a communist!! He believes in taxation without representation and his beloved "limited voting" he created with the learning community. I can't wait for this turkey to be up for reelection. Go ahead Brad run for mayor!!!

Omaha Watcher,

I doubt you would know a "real" communist if one bit you on the butt.

Brad Ashford, whose former law partners Judge W.Russell Bowie and Woody Bradford have ties to the judiciary--with Ashfordhead of the state senate's judiciary-that's quite a power trio. Think what you can offer your corporate funders as a polician in that position.

CHECK OUT BRAD ASHFORD'S POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS-ASHFORD SUPPORTED RUDY GUILIANI FOR PRESIDENT. BRAD ASHFORD IS A RINO COUNTRY CLUB REPUBLICAN MOSTLY DOING THE WORK OF HELPING HIS CRONIES IN OMAHA LAW FIRMS(SUCH AS HIS FORMER LAW FIRM MEMBERS,WHO RAN HIS POLITICAL CAMPAIGN ). MEDIOCRE LAWYERS BECOME JUDGES OR POLITICIANS, AND HE'S BEEN BOTH FOR YEARS.

Ashford is the only pol in this state who gives a damn about the senseless killings going on in this city. He may have given birth to a worthless district court judge - R. Bowie( the overturned verdicts are just beginning.) But hey, at least he's got a pair, which is more than any other Ne. legislator.
