Kerrey: No questions asked…if you’re RICH!

Hey, attention rich people! If you are rich, then you’re A-Oh-Kay with New York's New School President Bob Kerrey.

You got your money through Ponzi schemes? You've defrauded investors in your shell corporations? You have a criminal background?

No problem…as long as you’re rich!

In fact, if you’re rich, he’d like you on the board of The New School, no questions asked! No investigation into your background will be necessary (though giving $100,000 to his school will certainly help you to become one of the trustees).

This, all according to Cosmic Bob Kerrey, as reported in the Los Angeles Times today. (Wealth, mystery surround donor Hsu – L.A.Times – 8/31/07.) Many campaigns such as Hillary Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s are scurrying away from the nefarious “Democrat donor” and New School Board of Trustees member Norman Hsu. But not Kerrey! He is saying, Hey man! What’s the problem? No big deal, dude! Or to quote Kerrey more precisely, “This isn’t Osama Bin Laden…”

So just so we’re clear: unless you’ve masterminded international terrorism, Welcome to Bob Kerrey’s Board of Trustees! Please leave your check at the door. Because as Rockin’ Bob puts it, “My presumption is that (you’re) rich.”

***

As many of you have read and probably figured, our Chuck Hagel Countdown clock to the right is going to be hitting zero soon, probably without an announcement from the Chuckster himself. We have a feeling it will be more like within the next two weeks. (We’re not sure what happens to this clock, but we think/hope it starts counting forward from there.)

In the mean time, if you add a comment to this post, please put down your prediction (under something other than “Anonymous”) for when you think Chuck will make his announcement about his Senate run. The closest prediction will receive an official Leavenworth Street solid-gold medallion (emailed to you).

Enjoy the weekend and Go Huskers!!!!!!!

Chuckie will announce he won't be running for Senate on 13 September, that way he can rail against the Iraq Progress report (due on the 15th) without fear of personal political fallout. He'll be free to be as liberal as he wants to be without NE GOP fallout.

While it is probably not a good idea for Kerrey to defend Hsu, it isn't exactly common for a University (especially private ones) to be suspicious of donations.

The board of directors is Kerrey's boss not the other way around.

Eric,

$100? $1,000? Maybe.

$100,000, you should at least be curious.

But when you "recruit" someone to be on your Board of Trustees, as Kerrey SAID he did, then a background check is in order.

Good Morning San Diegoians

Crafting a logical argument for the impending announcement of an announcement from Senator Hagel lets take a look at recent news events to help us narrow down the date.

According to yesterday's OWH Hagel spokesman Mike Buttry announced that there would be no announcement about an announcement this weekend-thus we can eliminate September 1-4th from our prediction.

2. According to todays OWH, the governor will be leading a 12 day (the LJS says 13 day which is it?) trade delegation to China. This group leaves on Sunday and will return just in time for the USC game minus any jet lag --may I suggest scotch?

Thus any announcement by Hagel will not be done before September 13 as I believe he would not announce an announcement while the governor is out of the country. Thus no announcement regarding an annoucement will happen from September 4th through the 13th.

3. Regarding Septemeber 14th through the 16th. I believe no announcement about an announcement will happen during this time because of timing. Sec. Johanns will be in town that week and will be honored at state gop headquarters on Saturday the 15th. Since Johanns spokeswoman Terri Tueber has stated that no announcement will happen during his trip to Nebraska it is safe to assume that Hagel will not want to put the Sec in any position in which he would have to answer any questions regarding the Senate race and besides the USC games will suck the oxygen right out of the news cycle. Thus September 14th-16th is out along with the 17th as a hangover effect from the long weekend celebrating a win over USC.

1. You can eliminate the rest of the weekend days and Fridays for the month as no one will be paying an attention
Thus September 21st 22nd, 23rd, 28th 29th and 30th are out.

4. We have just narrowed down the window to seven days in September in which an announcement regarding an announcement can happen.

5. Since I believe that the last week of September is pushing it, My perdiction is a September 20th announcement with an afternoon delight start time of 2:00 p.m.

And for you negative commenters out there, I do not work for any goverment body thus no taxpayer dollers went into the making of this post. I am simply here in my living room in my robe dining on an excellent wheel of cheese with loyal companion Baxter.

Good evening San Diegoieans

SS,

I'm glad to see that you have begun starting new threads more consistently.

Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much. I miss being with you, I miss being near you. I miss your laugh. I miss your scent; I miss your musk. When this Senate race all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together.

Monday 10/01/07...announcing his decision to run for reelection after appearing on the weekend talking heads shows for two weeks post 9/15/07 Iraq report and getting lots of liberal media press as "the leading Senate republican against the warand outspoken Bush critic".

Anonymous said...

I think it would be most appropriate if he announced on September 23...the birthday of Augustus Caesar. Hagel already sees himself as a pompous emperor who is smarter than the silly peasants who elected him.

The very instant he is found standing in front of Mike Johanns with a big smile on his face. When's Johanns coming back to Nebraska? Second week of September?

If I were a betting person...I would say September 12th 136 PM CDT in Grand Island. What better place to announce than on the busiest day of Husker Harvest Days? Big crowd...farmers and big business from all over. All this hubbub culminated by a building being named after MJ. Whoa...that will stir the Republican faithful.

Kerrey better keep his day job and Kleeb may want to consider a return to the east.

But then again...there is this little bit of doubt stirring still about Johanns not being the one Nebraska voters want. It's only gonna get better. I hope someone has some substance to talk about...you know...an agenda on Iraq...illegal immigration...

The "Herd" it on the street guy sounds like a bitter little man that used to be a republican until Hal put him in his place.

If you visit his website and come up with another conclusion let me know, until then, I stick with my original thought.

I think "coke not pepsi" is my new hero. That's the most logical conclusion and accurate analysis about Chucky yet, all neatly summed up in one post. Talk about hitting the nail on the head. I think I'll even change my name to "silly peasant." Seriously man, thank you!!!!

Mom-
if he stays this bitter, think "Herd" would jump off a Cliff?

I think I get your notion.

Hagel announcement will be as late September as possible - so Sept 30. He hasn't decided what to do yet.

When the Countdown Clock reaches zero, hold your breath until you get the announcement you want.

To the Herd dude: the next time I want to read/see/hear/or otherwise be spoonfed garden variety liberal nonsense I will turn on CNN or go visit the Nebraska Dems website to get my fill.

Your website is not only unoriginal, unfunny, and painfully contrite, it's also a lame attempt at mimicking the Daily Kos.

If you wish to peddle your wares to a sympathetic audience might i suggest the comment board of SmithWatch or New Nebraska Network?

Dog Days of Summer winding down...Indian Summer around the corner and no Leavenworth St. update in almost a week. The folks are getting restless.

It's beginning to look like Hagel will retiring and opening a "Lip Service" business...a no-show for the Labor Day Announcement Tour...and while he said he was done with earmarks years ago...he continues to sign off on them. When called on the carpet by the OWH he has his hired man fall back on the old deniability trick to say he...Hagel...didn't know.

Think I'll take a nap or head down to the dump and watch the cars rust. Let's see...Columbus Day or Thanksgiving????

Hey, once there's something to update, we'll update. These days we've been working on about a post per week.

As Miracle Max said, "Don't rush me sonny. You rush a miracle man, you get rotten miracles."

OK...I will try and be patient.

In another area of Nebraska politics...Kearney's KGFW Radio Daily Poll revealed that 14 percent of respondents felt Coach Callahan's pay raise and contract extension was deserved...while the remaining 86 percent felt it was either too much or should have been given at the end of the season.
