Hagel will wait ‘til later in the year

Chuck Hagel said today that while he may consider a run for President, he will hold off until later in the year to make a final decision about running for President or to run for re-election to the U.S. Senate.

He said he hopes to continue to be a part of America's history.

The announcement means the political pot ready to boil over with candidates if he retires will continue to bubble and simmer for another six months.

More to come…

Future Headline: President Hagel says he will make a decision on how the US will respond to North Korea's invasion of South Korea, "sometime later in the year".

Fred Thompson, anyone?

I was right about one thing: Hal Daub isn't your next Nebraska Senator. But today's non-announcement was disappointing. I agree with PTG in that Fred Thompson is appealing. A new Ronald Reagan for 2008?
