Rubin ASSURED us...

Maybe Rubin thought Ben still lives in this house in McCook
"The crime here is that he paid $1.2 million for his home and then turned around and claimed it was worth only half. I can assure you, 24,000 other people in Nebraska are not doing the same," said Barry Rubin, executive director of the Nebraska Democratic Party (County Board denies Ricketts' property valuation protest – OWH - 7/21/06).
Well Barry, maybe 24,000 didn’t, but one sure did.

Ben Nelson paid $340,000 for his Regency mansion in 1984 and then turned around and claimed it was worth only $220,000, 65% of the price he paid, in 1985. (Republicans: Nelson fought valuations, too - OWH - 7/27/06)

Someone check to see if Ben Nelson’s Maryland attack dog, Barry Rubin, is foaming at the mouth.

This is all info from the NEGOP. We would assume the MSM will be reporting it very soon.

Boy Petey must be desperate. he wants to point out that when Ben Nelson appealed his assessment the county AGREED and lowered it but when Petey did it he was denied his request twice because what he was asking for was out of whack.

The difference is the county agreed with Ben Nelson two decades ago, but they rejected Ricketts lame argument this year and in 2003.

You guys sure you want to keep this up?

Oh and when is Petey going to stand up for himslef instead of sending out the GOP pitbulls to attack Nelson? real courageous fellow that Pete.

Wow, way to talk yourself into that one. Rubin calls Ricketts a CRIMINAL for suggesting that his valuation should be lower, when Nelson did THE EXACT SAME THING. Just so we're all clear, the entire Nelson Democrat issue has been that Ricketts would even propose a decrease in his valuation. If you forget, go read your little Dr. Seuss rhyme again, Barry.

So we assume from this that it's fine to appeal or that it's not fine to appeal? Or it's fine for trust fund babies to appeal but not fine for insurance company honchos to appeal? The Seuss ad was idiotic to be sure. Petey's $6000 appeal was also idiotic. He leaves that on the table at every TV station in the state on a daily basis.

Everyone has always said it's fine and very legal to appeal. Oh, well, everyone except Ben and Barry and the boys, who've said it's CRIMINAL.

I think it's so ironic that these rabid, frothing at the mouth, UNO dems and Nelson cronies keep calling out Petey because he's rich, when the stalwart of the Democrats, the Lion of the Senate... TEDDY KENNEDY is the biggest trust fund baby of them all. He's nevery worked a day in his life earning an honest buck.

Whoops, I just linked Pete and Teddy together... prepare for a lame World Herald editorial.

Hey guys how's that MSM coverage working out? was this even on TV? Why did it take the Ricketts camp nearly two months to figure out Nelson got his property reassessed? Rcketts campaign, even with that attack poodle Moenning just hasn't achieved "edgier" status yet.

The link to the OWH is right there in the post. Hope that's main stream enough for ya.

The OWH link - sp besides you and the other guy who reads this blog - maybe a few thousand people read about it and even those readers got another dose of the special deal ricketts got for himself.
This has been masterful - a one day advertisement by the NDP that would have never got any atention on its own has been palstered statewide and on nearly every television station because the Ricktts camp cant keep yapping about it. and the pushback is one OWH story? I saw an AP story that didnt even include Nelson's evaluation numbers but again reiterated every step of the Ricketts property tax whining.
$5 million to win a primary election. 5 press conferences to highlight his own property tax appeal. $6K in savings rejected by the tax man, priceless.

I will admit, that Democrats like you who are still convinced that Ricketts got a "special deal", will never be convinced.
And then there are the other thousands of Nebraskans who are wondering what the hell Nelson and his cronies are doing spending money on a junior high ad that doesn't make a lick of sense.

I am potitcally nuetral most of the time. The ads on T.V. have made me livid, especially the annoying "Old McDonald" ad. When will politicians promote themselves in a mature and responsible way? Voters don't want to be irked or entertained. We want intelligent information....Please!

Uh...any reason why you left this comment in a months-old post?

Sorry. I am not computer savy. Just saw that ad one too many times and I needed to vent. I just pick the 1st spot I could find to write.
