And now, all the Terry and GOP staff anonymously posting on here will extol the brilliance of this YouTube spot. Go!
Question--what is this bill to balance the budget that White voted against?
Great point by the video--White can't credibly claim he is concerned about the national debt--then turn around and add $2 trillion to it.Hypocrisy.
1:17--LB 5 during last fall's Special Session. The two-year budget had a $334 million deficit. One part of the balancing package was LB 5--it froze state education aid--saving $82 million over three years. 40 senators voted 'yes'. Tom White and six other liberals voted 'no.' Fact is, the budget would not have balanced without LB 5.
Does anyone remember any other President giving an Economic Address and bashing the other Party, by name, during it?Also, can anyone explain to me how the Republicans are blocking the President's Agenda in Congress(I know, I was shocked that he is taking ownership of this crap too!)? I mean, simple math people. The only people blocking the President's Agenda are the Members of Congress in his own Party. There is no Republican Majority in Congress-they can't block anything, Mr. President. When Republicans take back control of the House, you will see what it is like to work across the aisle. It will be more like the 90's.
Based on that ad your average uneducated voter might think that White is the incumbant. Based on White's ads your average uneducated voter might think that he is a fiscal conservative. Give me an ad with some substance for Christ's sake!!!
It's brilliant!Just to point out that I do take requests.
On a more serious note, I was sure that everything Tom White claims in his ads were true. Or were at least some reasonable version of the truth. I mean, he is a lawyer and all. Didn't think he would try to claim credit for things he didn't do.
Everyone "gets" that this is all Tom White's own ad, don't they?
They are true. Tom White does think he is a conservative independent thinker. lolol!
I support Lee, but there are a couple of things I don't lke about this ad...most people will just hear it and will not read the messages posted...which means they will miss the point that White is lying abut his record. Good idea, but poor production.
That is true of television ads. But You Tube ads are captive face to the screen viewers.
And they cost virtually nothing.
2:05, ever hear of something called the filibuster?
This Terry ad forces distracted Nov voters to work to figure out this isn't a White ad. It sounds like White is saying DC Repubs and Democrs are both wrong. That is exactly what Nov voters think.
Sorry, filibuster is only in the Senate, Buster. We have a 2 headed monster in Congress right now and President Obama and Nancy Pelosi control the bulk of it.President Obama needs to start blaming his Party and its Leaders that have controlled Congress for the last 4 years. That would be the Democrats, but, as always, thanks for playing.
If White knows that the Democrats don't understand the language that the entire Nation is yelling, then why does Tom White keep agreeing with the Democrats in Washington?Surely, by now, Tom White is smarter enough to see that his current personality isn't going to win him any votes in November. Maybe he should search that big head of his and try to tame, yet another, Tom White personality?
Anonymous 6:27, are you really that stupid? You do know that legislation has to pass both the House and the Senate? And that the Republicans in the Senate have forced more cloture votes than any Senate in history. So 60 votes are required in the Senate, where there are only 59 who are Democrats or caucus with Democrats. Thanks for attempting to play. A little more knowledge would help.
Speaking of losers--Things are really heating up over at NNN. In the last week, Vile Kyle has posted six articles...they've generated FIVE actual comments. Wow!
ANON 6:27 have you ever read the constitution? Even if the HR passes a bill it has to get through the Senate. That is where the filibuster takes over. The GOP is the party of NO! I am waiting for them to say NO to the new program of Obama's. 100% take it off your taxes for improvements on their business. The Republicans don't care what Obama and the democrats do. They say No. The democrats could take a 100% Republican plan and say lets do it and they would say NO. All the republicans care about is getting back into power. If the country is hurting so what. Do you call that Love of your Country?
A typical Republican at 7:47. Real nice folks u are!
Hmm, and yet, crap ass health care passed both chambers. Do you know why?Because Harry Reid got the crap scared out of him in a room with Rahm and nancy. Thus, may I present you with....THE CORNHUSKER KICKBACK.The filibuster only works if the Majority power in the Senate is weak and can be bought.BTW, when was the filibuster EVER really used to stop an Obama/Pelosi approved plan? Yeah, that's what I thought. It is fear in the Senate that they might actually have to defend the indefensible that makes all the Dems shudder and cave.As I have said before, Obama should be pissed at Pelosi for being such a bitch that most of her Caucus can't stand her or is afraid of her, an he should be mad at Harry Reid for being such a pussy that the only way he can get his whole Caucus on board is to bribe them which cost the National Democrat Party at every level hundreds of thousands of dollars in ad buys AND ended up being one of the biggest budget busters in the Healthcare Bill.Game on!
Anonymous 9:22 The filibuster only works if the Majority power in the Senate is weak and can be bought. Huh! Do you understand what a filibuster is? All 59 in the Dem caucus could always vote as a block, and the Republicans could ALWAYS block any legislation if they stick together. One thing Republicans are good at is sticking together and saying NO to anything Democrats propose. Often laws passed in the House never even get a vote in the Senate because of the filibuster threat. I know you righties have short memories (and some aren't even based on reality if they came from Faux news), but the Dem caucus had 60 when health care passed. Was a nice rant, 9:22. Too bad it made no sense.
So, Dems, please list all the measures in Obama's agenda that have passed the House (where there is no filibuster) but have been blocked by a Republican filibuster in the house.Take your time. I'll wait.
Obviously, I should have proof-read that last posting more carefully. Should have said, "... blocked by a Republican filibuster in the Senate (not House)."
ANON 10:33 I wanted to list all of the 372 HR bills filibustered by the Republicans . But this blog only takes up to 4096 characters. So I was not able to. But google it . It is not hard to find. Just search; 372 bills filibustered by the republicans. They filibustered vets, mothers, clean energy. and many other great ideas. I am not holding my breath that you will do so though. Why know the truth when fiction makes you feel good.
Reagan got things done with a Dem Congress. So did Bush 1 and 2. Clinton got stuff done with a Democrat Congress that didn't have near the numbers this one has. He also got stuff done with a republican Congress. So why can't Obama get things done? Oh, wait. He did. He got Obamacare passed. But since we aren't showering him with palm branches and perfume, he has to whine about contrarian republicans. Talk about insecure.
Macdaddy it's very simple, and you know the answer. Republicans have never filibustered to the extent they have this session. In fact there have been more Republican filibusters last year than all of the filibusters in the 1950's and '60s combined. I would say this points the blame at Republicans, not Obama. But when your aim is to regain power at all cost no matter how much pain and harm it brings to the country, it all makes sense.
Macdaddy, Bush 2 had a GOP congress for 6 years . He never vetoed a bill. When the democrats took over in 2007. Bush went on a veto spree. You have a right to your opinion . But you FOX news and all of the right wing radio hosts do not have a right to make up facts. The fact is that the GOP is trying to wreck America. They have stopped 372 bills from getting an up or down vote. Most not all of them were good bills. But they said no because it was not their idea. That is wrong. You can't be against everything and get anything done.
Tom White was on KFAB this morning. He did everything possible to distance himself from "Democrat", Obamacare and the stimulus package. He's a "civil right attorney" who thinks government is too big in some areas but not nearly big enough in others. On the upside, he sounds nice saying nothing but can't handle a direct question on his record or previous statements he's made in support of Obama/Pelosi/Reid policies.
Anon 9:22: "BTW, when was the filibuster EVER really used to stop an Obama/Pelosi approved plan? Yeah, that's what I thought."Anon 10:33: "So, Dems, please list all the measures in Obama's agenda that have passed the House (where there is no filibuster) but have been blocked by a Republican filibuster in the house. Take your time. I'll wait."Are you f-ing kidding me!?! Every single bill that passes the house! How about the healthcare bill? Or the financial reform bill? The DISCLOSE ACT? The bill to extend unemployment benefits this summer? Those are just the ones that eventually passed or failed. There are plenty more held up in the Senate due to filibusters or threats of filibusters. Should I keep going or do you now realize you were talking out of your A$$? Seriously, this conservative amnesia is contagious!
Oh Mander I tried listing all 372 items. This blog will only take 4096 characters. Just writing all of their numbers alone is more than that. I would love to give them to you. Just google it. It is there. Real easy. even for a Republican. Check out the web site the Hill
Oh Mander...blocked. Not delayed. Not held up. But actually blocked, as in killed.
So to get this straight. Democrats have no problem with losing the House as long as they can have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and a President that will sign all kinds of crap ass spending proposals?
Anon 12:29 Taking care of our Vets, helping the elderly from being abused. Clean energy, , Honoring MOM that is wrong? Did you even try to find the list of bills the GOP blocked? Or are you on the FOX republican talking points web site for ideas and pet phrases? Some GOP ideas have been good. Most of these 372 bills are good. They should be voted on.
TedK you completely missed my point. The reason that all these other Presidents and Congresses could work with each other is that they were willing to listen to the other side and compromise. With Obama/Reid?Pelosi, it's their way or the highway. They refuse to bend even a little bit to peel off a few Republicans to make things bipartisan. In other words, Obama/Reid/Pelosi are too rigid in their ideology to settle for anything other than what they want. This is what my kids did as toddlers. All or nothing. They need to grow up.
MacDaddy, you've got to be kidding. The only "compromise" acceptable to Republicans is complete capitulation. For example, health care reform was severely watered down to try and gain Republican support. Obama never pushed for a public option. Here's a quote from last December: Senate Republicans predicted on Wednesday that the 40 members of their caucus would unanimously oppose health care reform despite changes made by Democratic leadership to make the product more palatable to conservatives. Obama caught heat from his base for continually pushing bipartisanship. Republicans don't understand the word, and consider it a form of weakness.
Picking winners and losers-what to tax, what to leave untaxed and lumping small business into a Healthcare Bill tax when said business has nothing to do with healthcare?Forcing people to purchase insurance "or else"?Not allowing me to use my own earned income, set aside for medical expenses, to purchase over the counter antihistimine and requiring me to see a doctor to obtain a prescription for said medicine? Do you know how expensive that makes my $15 bottle of generic brand allergy medicine? $35! Thus wiping the savings and that is only that cheap because I pay several hundred dollars a month in health insurance premiums.Obama, Pelosi and Reid had to cave in on things? Thank goodness they caved on things or NO ONE could afford Obama Care!
BTW, none of the above came from Fox News. I prefer CSPAN-is it biased too?
I guess those of you who are anti-government would rather have large corporations running the show? That would be soooo much better!
TedK, Obama had to ditch the public option to get his own side on board. Lieberman and Nelson weren't going to support it otherwise. What was that line about your own facts?Look, Obama has gotten every big thing that he's wanted (porkulus, Obamacare, at least one completely unqualified Supreme Court justice, lots of play time) despite heated objections of large portions of the public. It is absolutely hilarious to watch him floundering around trying to deflect attention from his accomplishments.
Macdaddy, not one iota of pressure was put on Nelson or Lieberman on the public option. Republicans were so opposed to it that Obama completely dropped it from consideration. Last September when Obama was working to get Olympia Snowe's support it was still on the table. (Wish I could give you the link.) President Barack Obama "should take it off the table," said Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) on CBS's "Face the Nation." "It would give real momentum to building consensus."Snowe, who has been courted by the White House to be the crucial 60th vote for a possible bipartisan healthcare plan, said Obama's continued support "leaves it open and therefore unpredictable." I'm tired of doing searches and typing them out for you. If you can't use the google to find the compromises made with Republicans, then believe what you want even though it isn't true.
Snowe is to the Republican Party what Lieberman was/is to the Democrat Party. She doesn't speak for me and I intend to keep it that way.
Seriously, TedK? You googled public option and Lieberman or Nelson and all you could come up with was something about Snowe? With 60 Dem votes in the Senate, why was Snowe the 60th vote? Can you do any math? Any at all? Lieberman came out against the public option and got Reid to drop it, not Snowe.
MD, compromises were made by Obama right out of the gate. Lots of us would have liked the option to buy into Medicare. Never saw that proposal. The stimulus was cut to make Republicans happy. (And I'm sure that you'll say it was just done for blue-dog Democrats.) Why don't you give me some of these compromises that Republicans proposed that were rejected out of hand? And completely gutting a bill is not a compromise.
I'm sorry but porkulus was idiotic and should have been put down. Period. Obamacare was sent to Congress the day before Obama even met with Republicans to "consult" with them about the plan. Obama much later met with the Republicans about the healthcare plan (remember that? It was on TV) and he rejected every criticism or alternative out of hand. It was ridiculous and very obvious that he showed up in bad faith. The fact that he couldn't even get Susan Collins or Olympia Snowe to go along with his plans should have given him pause, but no. In any event, what are you complaining about? Obamacare was passed. Republicans can't take even one iota of credit. Obama should be bragging about this every day. Was this not the most wonderful thing ever? Instead, he bitches and moans about Republicans. It just makes him look insecure and weak.
looking at this video i can not belive that they talk about such serious things as policy-it all looks like a showbusness guys who came to entertain public.
