Suttle Booed at Nighthawks Opener

Ah, the perils of the public appearance.

Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle was the official coin-flipper at the opener of the Omaha Nighthawks UFL game at Rosenblatt Stadium tonight.

And he was BOOOOOOOOOED.

Heartily.

Now THAT's a poll.

Oh well.

Comes with the territory, right?

Of course, when you are threatened with a recall, it stings just a leeeeeetle more.

We would add that when Suttle was opening the CWS back in June, it wasn't nearly as bad.

Times change.

(And GO NIGHTHAWKS!)
(And GO Huskers!)

Word of this hit the US STRATCOM Ball too. Held in La Vista instead of the Qwest!

This phoney baloney recall = Dishonorable and dishonest. Word. Fight the millionaires and crybabies.

It's true. And booing Suttle was the loudest the crowd got before the fourth quarter.

The only other person booed 1/8 as much was the Hartford player that ws a U. of Texas graduate.

Preach it, brother! Dick Holland, Warren Buffett, George Soros, the gloves are off.

Since Mr Suttle got more votes than Hal did, I wonder how much booing Daub would have gotten on the coin flip?
23,000 for a game at Rosenblatt?
How many fans would have been reported if the people who counted for the (now Sarpy) Royals counted last night? 30,000?

GeosUser said...

NEVoter,
Just keep thinking the recall is "phoney baloney" right up until they turn in well over 27,000 valid signatures and the recall election is scheduled.

Six Dollar Parker said...

The booing of politicians at sporting events is a time honored American tradition. Was it Mayor Jimmy Walker or Fiorella LaGuardia who said never get introduced at a baseball game as it gives em a chance to boo you?

donkeygrinder said...

Phoney baloney recall? Daub? Are you people nuts?

Democrat Mayor Suttle gets booed by a sports crowd and you wonder about Hal Daub? Sports people who barely pay attention to politics jeer Suttle and you think they don't want him recalled?

You must have the same brain defect that causes Obama to keep stutting "Bush, Bush, Bush".

Do you really think Republicans manufactured a jeering sports crowd?

Voters are getting ready to send your boys packing, here and in DC.

The last time you Dems got it 100%right was when you picked an ass as your party's symbol.

When did bad manners becomes a "poll" of sorts? Give me a break, but keep the beer from the monkeys in peanut section.

Anonymous said...

A poll is simply a measure of support.

People booing is also a measure of support. And one done in public.

Don Kuhns said...

That's a POLL, streetsweeper?

Only a republican.

How about some video?

Anonymous said...

Is booing a poll? No. It is more real than a poll.

A straw poll among partisans is useless. A paid poll sampling opinion is more reliable. But a mayor who appears before thousands of booing citizens at a non-politial venue? Stick a fork in him. He's done.

Street Sweeper said...

Video, Don? Tell ya what, next game I'll bring my 8-track recorder so you can listen.

In any case, you don't have to take it from us.

Read from the OWH's photo showcase (the second one):

Nighthawks Opener
Omaha mayor Jim Suttle (center) is introduced to many booing Nighthawks fans for the coin flip at the Nighthawks opener at Rosenblatt Stadium

Maybe they were yelling "Lou!"?

Don Kuhns said...

Jesus, sweeper! Would it kill you to provide a link?

So far, we've got "many" and "thousands" according to one no-name. How many thousands? 11.5 thousand? That's how many fans would have to be booing for you to have a majority in your "poll".

I know what you'll say. It takes courage to boo. Not if almost everyone in Omaha hates the mayor, as you claim. So how about it, sweep? Did you see 11.5 thousand people booing that night? Do you think more news outlets might have mentioned this if more than half of your "poll" was booing?

Wait, let me guess. It's the "librul media" at it again.

Street Sweeper said...

Don,
Here's an idea: Get off your lazy ass and find the freaking link yourself. How's that sound?

Anonymous said...

Don, if you don't like calling it a poll, fine. How about this: "Omen."

Sweeps, were there any people cheering to try to counter the booers?

Anonymous said...

Don, methinks you upset Street with your comments. Don't worry, I remember the poll that got all the attention here 16 or 17 months ago, the one that said Jim Vokal would come in first and Suttle third in the Mayoral primary. So much for polls discussed here.

Anonymous said...

Not only was the mayor loudly booed but when they introduced the guy who plays the godfather in the Godfather Pizza ads got a big round of applause.

The boos were so loud I felt sorry for the mayor and I'm signing the petition.

I don't know if Vile Kyle was at the game--but I doubt he was blogging.

This past week, Vile posted four articles at NNN that garnered a grand total of 16 comments. Wow.

LS usually get multiple times that on a single thread.

Anonymous said...

Suttle was introduced at the man that brought the NightHawks to Omaha-then they booed. Omaha's "Godfather" (ie, CORPORATE SPONSOR symbol), then got a hoot and hollaring applause.

Take what you want from it.

As far as the numbers, I am fairly sure that a computer or something kept track of how many tickets were printed, and how many tickets were sold. That's the 23,000 number. They had those little handheld barcode readers at the game so I am fairly sure they can get an accurate count of gate passers that used those tickets.

Joe biden better watch his mouth when he comes to Omaha this week to raise money for Tom White's bid to be the next vote for nancy Pelosi for Speaker.

Biden has a bad habit of making stupid, smart ass comments and Tom White has a habit of punching people in the mouth that say things he doesn't like.

By the way, it was Champions Club-not Tom's private Country Club.

Yeni said...

Suttle showed up to start the Omaha Marathon again this morning. Last year he gave some words of encouragement before firing the starting gun, but not this year. That still didn't save him from being booed.

Rob said...

I think many regular folks out there could care less what the political parties and their hierarchy says. We are mad. I am an everyday democrat, and this guy has to go. When you vote for someone, you expect them to listen, or at least fake it pretty well. This guy does neither. You expect elected officials to be respectful of the hard earned dollars that both republicans and democrats and independents pay! Don’t hire people with really big pay raises for the same job and don’t buy anything with a 24% interest rate when savings accounts are practically at 0%. Those are everyday things that don't make sense. He operates with a line of thinking that most people don’t get and didn’t expect when they voted for him. I am a democrat and will sign. And if Daub runs I won’t support him either, he is the second worst person for the job. The problem is the first has it now.

Anonymous said...

After she doesn't become Lt Gov, will Anne Boyle run for Mayor after the Suttle recall?

Anonymous said...

Oh, ye of little memory, Sweeps. Suttle has been booed everytime he does anything at Rosenblatt, even right after he was sworn in as mayor and was introduced at the CWS, later on when he did the Homerun Derby, and now. Rightly or wrongly, he's viewed a a part of the group who is closing down Rosenblatt.

Anonymous said...

At this point, anything to get her off the PSC. She is destroying it with her assumption that she is the smartest person in the room and to Hel with the folks that actually have businesses to run and families to support.

Anonymous said...

And he was booed at maha, and the village point summer concert series, sporting events, etc.

I am starting to think the only thing he should do is announce that he will step down at the end of the year, Let the City Council appoint an interim and have a special in the Spring.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Suttle should do what Dubya did in the height of his unpopularity. Just make sure there's nobody in the crowd who disagrees or could raise a boo.

Course Suttle's hired consultants would have to find those that support him and have them cheer and seeing as though Gary and his entourage have done a rotten job of that to date, we can continue to witness more of the same.

Anonymous said...

A lot of Dem's could foresee Suttle's incompetence by the way he handled the smoking ban. His leadership was on display early with that poorly written law that ended up being unconstitutional.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of Gary, where's Ace??? Is he organizing "Teens against the recall" campaign?

Anonymous said...

Would Ace be I-never-really-left Matthew? Still-giving-the-same-bad-advice Samp?

Anonymous said...

A little search of the Campaign Finance Disclosures would tell us whether Matt really left, or not. Maybe Mayor Suttle kept Matt Samp on at $5000 per month while he has been Mayor, just like he did while he was a City Councilman.

So, did anyone read the profile piece on Tom White in the OWH yesterday?

I wonder if you can get the Sheriff's records for the call to the Country Club when Tom jumped in his car and took off before the Sheriff showed up?

Anonymous said...

Wow, the OWH has an article talking about the CD2 pay raise issue. So Tom White is running a commercial saying that Lee Terry voted to raise his pay because TWICE he voted to NOT hijack a desperately needed Transportation Bill? And then has voted every single time before and after to freeze the automatic COLA.

I wonder if a Federal Employee COLA is an 80% increase in pay?

And, I wonder if the constituents in Tom White's legislative district knew, when they voted for him that he only intended to use THEIR seat in the Nebraska Legislature to further his own selfish interest for political office? Because, if he really only intended to be there for 1 term, he was lame ducking the entire time he was there.

Shame on Tom.

Anonymous said...

7:57--

One point is White can attack on pay raises all he wants--but he needed to vote against raises to do so.

White voted for a pay raise--it makes him look like a hypocrite. That's the issue.

Anonymous said...

Tom White can't even use the term Democrat because he's ashamed and scared. As long as he talks like he's a Republican on the commercials, those that voted for Suttle, Obama, and others that want only for their own agenda, will mistakenly vote for him too. If Suttle really cared about the city, he would acknowledge he hears the people and make some drastic changes. He won't though, it's evident with all his first few months picks and spending. That's what he wanted so he could promote Suttle-nomics. White on the other hand has a proven me me me attitude in pushing his personal agenda so why would we see through his deception now?? Because we're on to you Tom White Democratic Party candidate!!!

Shoe Salesman said...

The pay raise issue is a dangerous one for Lee Terry - every time Tom White points out that the state legisaltors make $12,500 and Lee Terry makes $178,000 andvoted for a pay raise for himself while he voted to expand government spending and not cut spending - it hurts.

Sweeper - wondering - have you been contacted by the New York Times to discuss Lee Terry?

Hey folks, Joe Jordan has a good article about the whole Terry/White issue. Check it out on Neb watchdog. I would like to hear ya'lls thoughts.

Anonymous said...

And in the World Herald today.

Anonymous said...

Trying to take this hijacked thread back from the Terry-White pay raise issue, did anyone else notice(channel flipping from the football game) that Sarah Palin was booed by the crowd when introduced on Dancing with The Stars. Maybe she should resign also. OOPS! She already did. Nevermind.

Anonymous said...

Terry wins! The only clear choice.

White is a putz! Fist fights in parking lots, contempt charges when dealing with partners in court. Heck it's a wonder the guy survived this long in politics. Even the libs in the legislature don't like him. Fear him yes, like nope.

The new White commercial is a joke, he is trying so hard to be an independent but just can't pull if off. He should have run 2 years ago. Ahh timing is so important.

SO what happens when he wakes up Nov 3 and he isn't and elected official anymore? Do you think he will just pack it in and go spend his "Hard" earned money on vaca's?

Anonymous said...

and thank you Mr. Boomer for your last remarks. Give Lee my best when feasting on mac and cheese at the kiddy table.

Anonymous said...

12:16, you must have missed todays OWH article in which they clear the record that Lee Terry has voted to freeze the COLA on Congressional pay raises every year EXCEPT the 2 years when it was offered as blackmail to the Transportation Bill that was delayed at least 2 years due to this very type of game playing.

What's Tom White's excuse for voting fo an 80% pay raise? "I knew I wasn't going to be in the Legislature anymore" after 2010? Uh, yeah, right. If he really knew that, then I have to give him credit for knowing his own limitations.

So, in the words of O'Reilly, "what say you".

Anonymous said...

Ian, you are so soooooo wrong on your last post:)

Oh and the attempts to beLITTLE Congressman Terry only make the point as to why he will be the only man standing when the smoke clears. The petty attacks trying to conjure up children looks to be more of a reflection of your inner state.

When you and your "team" can come up with a platform detailing what you are going to do, and back it up with White's "Accomplishments" then you may get some traction with voters. Sure you will get the 25% of voters who identify with Obama, but the rest are off the juice now.

See the voter breakdown indicates a LOT of independent voters, who are turning in droves to the Republican brand. There have been numerous comments from Omaha Democrats who are voting Republican this time out. And while there will be a few R's who won't vote for Terry, the sure as heck wont vote for Tom the Liberal!!

So go ahead and milk the gig for as long as you can!

Oh and saying I'm Boomer is almost a slam, but in this case it's okay as anything is better than being a parasitic pollywonk stuck to Tom Whites shoe!

Anonymous said...

Might as well go a few more rounds here on the pay raise...

The issue is hypocrisy by White. If you want to slam a pay raise, then at least be sure you haven't voted for one yourself, Tom.

Anonymous said...

Boomer, you give yourself away with those long, long posts that just are so nasty. We got it. Lee is pure as the driven snow and Tom is evil incarnate.

Did you let your other client Bruning make a fool of himself yesterday on local talk? Yikes.

Keep those doggies rollin......

Anonymous said...

Terry will be the only man left standing "when the smoke clears."

What smoke? The only way White can become a hot candidate is if he spontaniously combusts.

Anonymous said...

You mean Lee is finally standing?

I thought he was still sitting at the kiddy table waiting for someone to tell him what to do.

Boomer's Doppleganger said...

You lib's are so funny. You see Boomer behind every thing:) That is why you are going to lose big time this coming election cycle. You just can't believe the people are tired of your same ol bs. Yet they are.

See if Tom White actually had vision he would have run in 2008, and WON. But nope he was so paranoid about each little detail he went and let the opportunity pass him by. Now he is left hold thing proverbial bag of flaming you know what. Yup he went out and committed one of the cardinal sins of politics, he hitched his wagon to soon. Now he is on the record supporting ObamaCare, Bailouts, and such. That sound he hears isn't the roar of a loving mass of numb libs, but rather the roar of the people.

It's lucky for White he just won a million dollar settlement. With some matching funds the VPOTUS will come out and work with Tom. Otherwise no way. It's like he had to tie a pork chop around his neck to get the dog to play with him.

But you go on ahead and keep believing Boomer is behind every tree.

Oh wait there he goes again. That guy is every where. Is the sky falling chiken little:)

Anybody out there know what Tom White's vote was on the Learning Community?

We should all know now that millions are needed for buses and taxi cabs, tens' of thousands spent on polling, pay raises already, and what to show for it? Lest we not foreget $20+ Million in "state-aid"! Where is Tom White on all of this!

Then there is the big dollars defending an on-going lawsuit brought by the Farm Bureau and others. Heard just the other day the delaying tactic of the Plantiff's has hit a snag. Seems there is an outside entity now joining the cause who has expertise in Freedom Of Informatin Act requests. Kind of an ACLU for the good guys. Anyway the school districts were all good with the delaying strategy until a request was made for itemized accounting of all the attorney hours, fees, and other costs by individual. Now all the districts are kneecaps over elbows to get this case moving. Funny how education doesn't mind spending money when they don't have to account for it.

So Tom White, where the sam hill were you on the retread busing plan of the 70's calle the Learning Community?

Where is your Independent/Conservative leadership on the issue! Hmmmm

Ian can you recount it for all to see?

Anonymous said...

The Learning Community now prefers to be called "The LC". They have also created a new tax levy for all you tax payers. Enjoy.

Anonymous said...

Turns out White does have a record as far as the LC goes.
If you go to the legislatures web site and look up the journals you will find it in the one for 2007.

The follow on to LB 1024 in 06 was LB 641. On page 1783 you will see Tom White's affirmative vote for the LC in LB 641.

What does the boy genius have to say now about his "independent voice and leadership" now?

Yup, just what I thought. A roar of silence!

The LC is a multi-million dollar increase in education, and Tom White was all for it. Seems he has proven he will side with an over reaching govenment! Just what we need in D.C. to help Obama.

Tom White = Unlimited Safe Haven.

Another LIBERAL, over-reaching, piece of legislation that Tom White made.

How much did the Special Session to "fix-up" that most excellent piece of work cost?

I guess his radio show nick name, TOM the LIBERAL was fit him to a tee.

Now he wants everyone to think he is an Independent Leader! Ha what a joke. He must think the voters are stupid. Oh wait, is that redundant?

The guy keeps trying to create an image of Lee Terry as being small, he must view himself that way. Which would explain his actions such as being a bully. Go figure with a very successful Father overshadowing lil Tommy.

Safe Haven Unlimited Age-Nebraska was the laughing stock of the Country as parents, very publicly, spent hundreds of dollars in gas and airline tickets to bring their teenage "children" to our state to finish raising them after they failed to teach them right from wrong. And, a couple hundred thousand to the Nebraska taxpayers to "fix" safe haven to be for unwanted babies born in this state. To top it off, Tom White even tried to sneak crap into the Special Session that, as a lawyer, he knew damn well was just costing the taxpayers another several thousand to educate him as to what a Special Session has the authority to do. Talk about grandstanding with no intent to accomplish anything!

Learning Community (what did that do for property tax relief, Tom White?)

Hitched his wagon over a year ago to the Pelosi/Reid Agenda including Ben Nelson and his CornHusker Kickback that made Nebraskans look foolish all across this Country.

Supported the passage of all the stimulus packages that Nancy Pelosi and her crew wrote creating VERY FEW private sector jobs-BTW, you should check the job requirements for virtually every single government job that was created-if you remove the obviously temporary part time jobs of Census Worker, you must have a college education to apply.

And he also supported Congress enacting massive fees and additional expenses to EVERY transaction you engage in with your local banker-including the electronic one that Ben Nelson has never met-the ATM!

Hmm, now that I think about it, since Tom White is a millionaire, just like Ben Nelson, he probably doesn't know how to use an ATM either.

Out of touch with everyday Nebraskan's much, Mr. White?

Anonymous said...

It's just too bad that Tom White can't own up to what he really is. He's pulling the Ben Nelson switcheroo with every turn. That's trying to appease everyone with every answer they want. . but he can't outwit the records. Put your money where your mouth is and just use your own money to pay your salary instead of taking taxpayer money then not doing what the majority wants.

Biden is now coming to your assistance with more phoney dialogue and slander techniques. Look at his record, then look at White standing next to him. That means Tom White supports EVERYTHING this administration has come up with and most of that has also gone against what the majority wants. Two peas in a pod and a shadow of the administration. Being a shadow he's just connected to them and will be with them at every step and turn.

If you can't start out telling the truth and admitting your party allegience, why should we think that you won't be a double talker if elected? Tom white needs to stay where he is, a lame duck without a seat after Nov.

Tom White, Suttle, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, all the names seem to rhyme and I'm not a poet.

Is it true that the Biden invite explicitly told donors that if they did not want their money to go to Tom White to just let the state party know?

Funny that even the State Dem Party recognizes that they have a candidate in CD2 that no one likes.
