Heineman 61 - Lakers 23

No that's not a bizarro NBA score up above (but don't think that's the last time we'll make such a joke.)

A new Rassmussen Reports poll out today on the Nebraska Governor's race. Looks like this:

Dave Heineman (R): 61%
Mark Lakers (D): 23%
Other: 2%
Undecided: 14%

Recall that back in 2006, after taking out Tom Osborne in the Primary, Heineman ended up defeating David Hahn with 73% of the vote. Those Undecideds tend to come around.

Rasmussen also says that Heineman gets 24% of Democrats, while Lakers only gets 54% of those from his own party.  Chalk much of that to the fact that Lakers has come out of political Nowhere Land, and many, if not just about all, Democrats have never heard of the guy. (Still, DH gets 24%. Not bad.)

Heineman also has a 69% approval rating (29% disapprove).

Nonetheless, it's early kids. Lakers will have some ads and his numbers will go up. Heineman will have a few more and then his will go up. (Then Heineman will saturate the market, the President will pull down the rest of the Dems, and, well...)

Note this first poll.

Matt's goal should be to pull a Kobe Bryant- Lakers 24.

Mark Laker's polling numbers shows that he has 100% of the brain dead dems supporting him. I don't think he will get many R's or I's to support him

Well Dave is doing a good job of running our state. We cut when we need or half to cut. The only thing he should worry about is a new flag design. The seal on blue is okay, but I think we can do better.

If you take Laker's 23 and add to that the 14 and then take that times the 2 that don't know anything, that's 74! Lakers wins.
(ObamaMath).

Make all the jokes you want. Call the Gov "Heiney Man" if you wish. For all we know he's a leg man. In any case, Lakers running doesn't add up to much.

The sad thing is Sen. Ben Nelson used this guy for his own benefit and Lakers' ego got the better of him. He is an amateur and has no business running for governor.

Gov Heineman Rocks!

Nebraska's state flag is crap.

First, it is blue. Nothing in Nebraska is blue, even the water.

Second, it is not a flag. It is simply the state seal sewn on cloth by a lazy NE legislature. And the seal is too complicated to be recognizable. Flags exist to be easily recognized. Nebraska has a cloth seal not a flag.

Third, Nebraska's "Great Seal" is also crap. It shows green mountains, blue water, a tree, and the metal industry. That's Colorado not Nebraska. The seal does manage to have some wheat, but this is the "corn and beef" state.

Nebraska needs a state flag with easily recognizable symbology that isn't a load of BS.

How about a corncob on a dirty loess colored background? And instead of "equality before the Law", have it say "One House isn't Half a Brain".

You are poking fun at Pete Ricketts for trying to oust Ben Nelson? Are you nuts?

If Ricketts was in the Senate today, instead of that too-easily bribable bag of excess body fat who you voted for, Nebraska wouldn't today be the hated laughing stock of the political universe.

There are Democrats in Nebraska who aren't nearly the psychotic fungus that Ben Nelson is. Why don't you do something useful and find one of them to run?

People on both sides of the aisle, and everywhere in between, 'poke fun' at Pete Ricketts' campaign against Nelson because it was about the worst campaign we've ever seen.

Ricketts didn't know what the hell he was doing, and handed over millions to a bunch of morons who sat in their office all day, spending his money on terrible commercials and not doing the real work of a campaign, ala Rove or Plouffe... you know, going out and building support over the phone and at the doorstep with volunteers and a field staff.

David Kramer would have put up a good fight against Nelson, and would have been a fantastic Senator.

9:55's real problem is that Nebraska is associating itself with a dirty liberal idea like "equality."

To ll:33AM: Amen to that!

SK,
You forgot one minor detail about the 2006 Senate primary race. Even with Ricketts getting nearly 50% of the vote, Stenberg's support still more than doubled that of Kramer. Ergo, Kramer wouldn't have gotten to put up any fight against Nelson either way.

who cares about the 06 race? All of Nebraska got hosed with Nelson and now we need to get rid of him and his ilk.

I can't wait to see who Julie Schmitt-Albin and NRTL decide to endorse for this race. Lakers is pro-life, even for illegal immigrants. Heineman doesn't believe in pre-nadal care for illegal immigrants.

If Julie endorses Heineman she will have sold her last ounce of integrity.

I agree with anon 10:22. Why be pro life for non-violent criminals? From now on speeders should be given the death penalty too. And dont even get me started on those people who disobey the fireworks ban in Omaha...

Another right wing hypocrate bites the dust. State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-California admitted today that he is gay. I have no problem with him being gay. I unlike the right wing, Bible thumbers also known has fake Christians with tons of hate in their hearts say being gay is a choice. Any one with a lick of sense knows that is nonsense. I am sure they just love choosing a life style that makes them hated and abused by so many people. You got to give the guy credit though. When he got caught he did not pull a Larry( wide stance ) Craig and deny it. Maybe a Nebraska law maker will soon have his courage.

"Rasmussen consistently leans right compared to other polls."

Polls don’t lean. They are either skewed by lazy pollsters or they are accurate. Rasmussen isn’t lazy.

Most pollsters question anyone who answers the phone. They don’t sift the field for only Likely Voters as Rasmussen does. Of course, only those who most likely to vote will most likely have an opinion that can impact an electoral outcome. And since Conservatives and Republicans usually vote more fastidiously than Non-affiliates and Democrats, if you include infrequent voters in your polling, your polls will skew leftward of accurate, leaving Rasmussen’s polls appearing rightward, because Rasmussen only polls Likely Voters.

By restricting questioning to those likely to vote, you get a more accurate representation of eventual electoral outcomes. That isn’t Rightwing or Leftwing but rather the seeking of accuracy. Rasmussen was closer than most in predicting Obama's win. He has a good record of predicting outcomes because he asks only those likely to vote and thus effect that outcome. It makes sense.

Most pollsters aren’t propagandists pushing agendas. It is simply cheaper for them to ask anyone who answers the phone. That adds error and it is often a leftward error, but not always. But it always makes the poll less reliable.

ROLLY!

This isn't the poll discussion. That's one up on the list on the front page. Maybe Rasmussen's problem is too many of their responses come from people who don't even know where they are at...

I know its unpopular to say this but I believe homosexuality is morally wrong. Saying this doesn't mean that I hate people who are "gay". Instead of making this condition trendy and cool, we should be condemning it and helping people born with this condition.

If you want to live the homosexual life go ahead its a free country but don't hate those that think its morally wrong and those that may have same-sex attractions and refrain themselves. Contrary to not being themselves, these persons are showing great courage in the face of a culture that is pushing immorality and selling it like candy.

No one defends and stands up for Christian values anymore.

Its the culture stupid!

2 parent households gone
modesty in dress gone
dad in the home gone
single mothers are held up as heroes
don't even need a nuclear family let the government take care of you
this is the age of Paris Hilton, reality tv, Britany Spears
Violence, sex sells, prime time

Dan Quayle was right
Ann Coultier is right

Its not health care, its not the economy, its our culture that is destroying this country and our lack of values.

Secularism, atheisim on the rise
push religion out of the public square

bow down and worship multicultarism, diveristy, tolerance

Rasmussen was THE most accurate predictor of the 2008 presidential election. And there's no debating that.
