Terry on record fundraising pace

Nebraska 2nd District Representative Lee Terry submitted his 4Q FEC report, and currently has Cash On Hand of over a half million dollars.

The $543,185 is the most COH Terry has ever had at the end of an off-year. The election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts, and the DCCC's apparent interest in NE-2 would seem to have been a boon for Terry's fund raising.

The Terry campaign reports that they have raised $793,598 during this election cycle with $281,524 coming during the last quarter of 2009.

The FEC reports are due by January 31st, though no word yet from Democrat Tom White's campaign.

However, White is bringing in the big guns from Washington on Friday for his campaign. Democrat Rep. Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, Chairman of the DCCC, will be in Nebraska for a White fund raiser.

And if Tom White and Chris Van Hollen in the same room together doesn't get you all hot and bothered, well then brother, you just don't have a pulse.

In related news, White also says he's not afraid to take on the Mayor of Omaha. Yeah. You got that right baby. Bring it on!

(No word yet as to whether White will try shoving Van Hollen to see if he's "a man".)

The Terry campaign has been distributing the attached flyer touting Terry's experience.

They point out that:
  • In a survey of House member, Terry was listed by his Democrat and Republican colleagues as one of the most bipartisan Members.
  • The National Journal listed him as one of the leading experts in the House on telecommunications technology.
  • Terry's successful record of legislation on energy issues.
They also note Terry's opposition to the current House Health Care Re-form bill (which Tom White said he would support), as well as the omnibus spending bills passed by the Democrat Congress.

From the flyer you can get an idea of where the Terry campaign will be firing as we enter the campaign season.

After the Van Hollen visit, we will likely get an idea of how the DCCC wants White to try to hit Terry.

We will also see if White plans to play the "support the President" card, which had been the original game plan. Since the tide has turned on Obama and the Democrat Congress, it will be interesting to see how much focus either is given.

Happy campaign season everyone!

Would White be holding back on releasing his numbers until this weekend? That might suggest he stalled in fundraising this past quarter.

Whoopee. If you want to see how a legislator of any kind is going to treat your tax dollars, take a look at all the money he raises and how it is used prudently or foolishly.

I'm sure there's a point you want to make there. Please go ahead...

It's pretty simple...

Terry is for private sector job creation, market solutions to health care and has the ability to get things done (like Hill-Terry) since he is bipartisan and an expert on issues--according to the Hill newspaper and Nat'l Journal.

Contrast that with White: TW endorsed the economic program that is based on $800 billion in gov't stimulus (which isn't working); endorsed the $1 trillion House healthcare bill (a gov't takeover and disaster that even members of his own party are now running from), and whose 'leadership' includes being the architect of the no age limit provision in the Safe Haven law--something that prompted more than 30 families to drive to NE from all over the country to dump their kids off at the E.R. An embarassment, really.

Pretty good contrasts between the two candidates.

Today's headline in Politico...

'Top Dems at war--with each other'

For a second, I thought they were talking about Omaha.

White/Suttle spat is certainly gonna unify the D's this fall, huh. lol

Vile Kyle posted on NNN this a.m. about the Suttle/White slugfest. A Dem then commented...

'White's unilateral action was a typical politician's pandering stance to a situation where he thinks he can gain some political capital.' Again, from a Dem--well said RB.

At least White's bill was ruled in order this time...

If I have to hear Lee Terry crow about the "Hill-Terry" law one more time I might vomit.

The House version of that bill set a 32 mpg by 2022 standard while the Senate version set a 35 mpg by 2020 standard. The final bill included the Senate standard.

Lee Terry, You Lie!

Since you'll be upchucking alot...
Why don't we just let John Dingell settle this.

Please feel free to watch the Dingell video again, where he specifically credits Baron Hill & Lee Terry for the "Hill-Terry Bill" in the final 2007 omnibus energy legislation.

Is that Andrew Northwall standing behind Lee Terry in the photo?

Man, that kid is everywhere!

Anon 2:58 -

John Dingell's (D-the Auto Industry) comments don't change the fact that 32 by 2022 is not the same as 35 by 2020. Jesus himself could say that "Hill-Terry" was in the final law and it wouldn't make it so. The numbers don't lie, Lee Terry does.

David--you might want to take U.S. Gov't 101 over again and listen this time when the prof lectures about Congress. That section of the final omnibus energy bill in 07contained dozens of provisions relating to CAFE. Most were from Hill-Terry's bill, which everyone recognized as the broad, middle ground on the issue. (Which I guess is why you don't like it.)

Some Dems tried your tactic last election--i.e. one word or a sentence changes in conference, it no longer is the sponsor's bill. You lost that debate in 08--but, feel free to keep trying.

I heard Tom White made it through the session so far without having one of his bills or amendments ruled out of order. Hooray!

Having to pick between Jim Suttle and Tom White on their tax fight...

Is like being a judge at a beauty contest that has only two contestants, and both are ugly.

3:46--well, I guess we can take U.S. Rep. Dingell's comments on the legislation (chairman of E/C at the time), or yours. Really hard choice... lol

On fundraising, White needs to show his momentum is building--he needs to report Qtr4 #s that are more than the $200k he did in Qtr3. Will he?

Anonymous said...

Nice flyer. If you want the House healthcare bill ($1 trillion cost w/$500 bil. in Medicare cuts) then vote for Tom White. If you like the gov't stimulus program (that was supposed to keep unemployment at 8%--now 10%) then vote for White. Pretty simple . . . and about 40% of the vote.

Key time for White:

It really is more than that, 5:25. There are no races in NE this year--the Dems are conceding everything, Gov. on down the ticket. All of their money and effort was supposedly going into NE2 against Terry. Well, the finance reports will show whether this is really happening or just hype.

White needs to match Terry's $280,000 this quarter, badly.

Wrong Way White...

OWH says that White raised $177,000 in Qtr4.

That's less than he raised in Qtr3 ($200,000).

He's going the wrong way.

Sweeper entry 01/27/10 10:23AM...you are a smart person...post their FEC reports. Therein lies the mystery of fact. Buying endless dull TV ads with high frequency to get less and less of the voters to vote does not a wise investment make in knowing your constituency.

If you are a regular reader of L. St., you know that we often link to the FEC reports -- but they aren't up yet.

Nevertheless, in the 2008 campaign, Terry's victory was credited, in large part, to his on the ground door to door campaigning.

I'm still not clear how else you would suggest a candidate spend their campaign money. Eschew TV ads? What's your plan? A sound truck and people wearing sandwich boards?

Again, you seem dying to make a point. Just spit it out.

You can judge someone by the company they keep.

Here we are with the Walk for Life happening and who does Tom White bring in? U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen--one of the most liberal, pro-abortion members of the House.

Really nice choice, Tom.
