Medicare spot on Nelson

The "compliments" keep rolling in for Senator Ben Nelson.

Last we heard Senator Mike Johanns thanking Nelson for his promise to vote against ObamaCare if the abortion restricting isn't included.

Now "60 Plus" is running ads thanking Nelson for voting against Medicare cuts.

See it here:

Of course, there's that kicker...
"Thank Ben Nelson -- and tell him to keep fighting to save Medicare."
It's all about the follow-through, right kids?

I am amazed at the schizophrenia demonstrated by the Republican party that simultaneously declares itself opposed to any government run health insurance option and the champion and protector of the government run health insurance option for people over age 65 (aka Medicare).

Of course, on April 2 of this year Lee Terry joined 136 other Republicans in voting to eliminate Medicare entirely. Where was “60 Plus” on that one?

Thank you Ben Nelson!!!! We are watching.

Pat's right. They show their hypocrisy on this issue. They want to "save medicare" but to do that means eliminating waste. A good start is the Medicare Advantage program that costs far more than traditional Medicare, yet produces no better results. Ironically, Republicans pushed that big givaway to private insurance saying it would cut costs. Instead it increased costs and could kill Medicare a lot quicker!

I take it from the increased volume of hysterical untruths that the left realizes the state take over of the health care system is not going to happen. Ben Nelson is not their biggest problem. Joe Lieberman is. And they created this problem when they went after Lieberman in 2008.

It never seems to dawn on the left that actions have consequences. Run a Ned Lamont against Joe L. because he's not toeing the line on Iraq, and Joe will wait for his moment and serve you his revenge cold.

I believe maintaining Medicare while eliminating fraud and abuse is the direction to take first...use a little common sense. Lowering the age eligibility to 55 is also a bad call. If we want government to take over...then they have to fix what they have first.

I hope Lieberman's knocking this bill out of existence is not because he is p-o'ed about 2008...it should be for reasons other than that.

If the liberal socialists believe Obama-lama-ding-dong healthcare is a better deal for them from a financial standpoint...they are missing the boat. It's going to cost everyone more...much more.

Maybe Lieberman should use my quote addressed to the Senate Democrats on Health Care

"I've done far worse than kill you. I've hurt you. And, I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me--as you left her--marooned, for all eternity, in the center of a dead planet: buried alive."

So Lieberman is acting out of vengence as oppossed to what is best for the country. He truly has become a Republican

Amazing!

The Sen. Dems look like a bunch of trained seals...following HR over the cliff. Keep going guys!

Amazing how each 'new' proposal is worse that the prior one!

Anon 1:37: you actually don't know that Lieberman is acting out of vengeance. You're taking the word of Democrat aides who, you have to admit, are highly embarrassed at this moment. Lieberman has stated all along that he's opposed to the public option. It was in all the papers for several weeks. It was no secret. How expanding Medicare does not qualify as a public option really defies logic. If the Democrats had more integrity, it might make their charges against Lieberman more believable, but we all see right through them.

How about this?

New Research 2000 poll shows 33% of Dems will be "less likely" to vote in 2010 if the healthcare bill does not contain a public option.

I also wonder what % of Dems in NE will be "less likely" to vote if their party has no credible statewide candidates...

lol

First Joe ... then Ben ... then Blanche ... then

Tipping point has been reached--Lieberman's the first to say 'no' to the Dem bill--others are coming.

Keystone Cops

Is there a better description right now for the Sen. Dems? And NDP?

Senator Joe said...

Harry Reid, he tasks me. He tasks me and I shall have him! I'll chase him 'round the moons of Nibia and 'round the Antares Maelstrom and 'round Perdition's flames before I give him up!

Let's hope the crazy lib Dems keep attacking Lieberman!

The Republican party will take Sen. Lieberman in a second!

Let's go.

Anonymous said...

You can have Ben too.

Personally, I'd take him as a GOP member.

If Joe and Ben bolt, the Dems go to 58--and pol. observers like Cook easily see Repub gains of 4-6 seats next year.

Balance will be back!

Michelle Malkin is reporting this morning that Nelson is being threatened with the closure of 'an Air Force base' (presumably Offutt) if he doesn't toe the line, along with a blank-check bribe bigger than Landrieu's

Don't think that will work.

Brian T. Osborn said...

Well now, if all of the right leaning Air Force personnel in Sarpy County were gone, that would make CD2 pretty much a permanent Democratic stronghold, wouldn't it? Then, after the next census, and Nebraska loses the predominately Republican 3rd CD ... who knows? Maybe Nebraska will become a Democratic state after all.

Right Wing Professor said...

Hate to break it to you, BTO, but if we lose the 3rd, half the 3rd's voters move into the 2nd, making it a R lock.

Still, good to see you're siding with the Chicago gang. Yeah, let's damage the state economy to help the Nebraska Democrat Party!

Brian T. Osborn said...

Nope, RWP. If Offutt leaves the state, a whole lot of other folks (mostly Republicans) do too. The only ones left will be the socialists that receive their (socialist) government agriculture subsidy checks and their (socialist) Medicare support.

But look on the bright side! Omaha would cease to be a major nuclear target!

Pat, you need to quit listening to Miss Janie. She is only in it for herself, and no one else-not even Hottie Scottie.
