Tom White has officially staked out his position:
He would have voted AYE (that's Yes, kids) on the recent House of Representatives Health Care re-form bill.
Note that:
- Lee Terry (R), voted Nay.
- Ben Nelson (D), said he would have voted Nay
- The bill is D.O.A. in the Senate.
- Mike Johanns, Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith are all against that House bill.
He thinks that this bill, that had Bi-Partisan OPPOSITION, and only passed the House by 5 votes, should be the one that takes over your Health Care.
(Think White would have gotten full support from the DCCC if he had gone the other way? And way to announce on Saturday morning. Couldn't find a lower news day?)
He obviously thinks you should go to prison if you don't purchase ObamaCare, by the way.
So there you go 2nd District. Unless the national climate changes significantly in the next twelve months (as it always can), expect this to be the major wedge issue between those two candidates.
Think there are any ads being prepped now?

So now we know that Tom White hates old people and thinks young people have too much money to spend on lattes and binge drinking. But I'm sure it's a smart move. Moveon.org said so. He really needs to push that whole obamacare angle. For those non-delusional people reading this post, I happen to know quite a few old people. They are extremely worried at how much money obamacare cuts from Medicare. Worried and unhappy. And they always vote. The delusional ones can just ignore that last part and start buying that tv time! Think Super Bowl!
I've got a new idea for this post. You should call it WAHHHHHHHH.
Does Tom really think you should go to prison if you don't buy ObamaCare?
Is this really true?
Please clarify? This is serious, please explain, I am very concerned.
The anonymous are very concerned.
Kudos to Tom White. I'm glad he would have supported the House bill, and being a member of the majority party he would have been relevant to the shaping of it, just as Senator Nelson is now. All politicians, Democrats and Republicans, claim to support some sort of health care reform, anyone really believe that Smith, Fort, or Terry will have any influence on the final bill? Hell no. The bill will pass and the only member of our congressional delegation that'll represent Nebraska's interest on it will be Senator Nelson.
So 9:22 advocates giving Nancy Pelosi more votes for shit bills that have the potential to destroy our economy, RIGHT HERE IN NEBRASKA?! Tom White will be a Freshman and will have no influence on any legislation for at least 2 terms and by then the Dems will have F****d up this Country so badly that they won't have the Majority in the House or the Senate anymore, then he will have no chance at influencing legislation.
Here's the question. Why should anyone believe that Tom White would actually have voted Nay on Cap and Trade when he doesn't have the balls to vote Nay on this shitty Health Care Overhaul and Takeover? The answer is he wouldn't have the balls to go against Nancy Pelosi on Cap and Trade. He either lied or is delusional about his ability to have a spine and go against Nancy Pelosi. Hell, 39 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives stood up against Nancy Pelosi on behalf of their constituents and voted against this terrible and dangerous HC Bill. What a weak little wimp Tom White is to not even have the balls to stand up for Nebraskans in theory, let alone with his vote!!!
Who would have thought that Pelosi would have gotten Tom White's balls locked up in her jewel covered purse this long before Election Day?!
Sweeper, please don't censor me, he deserves this!
Tom White thinks what Nancy Pelosi tells him to think and her Bill says that you can be fined and/or punished by imprisonment for not obtaining health insurance within a certain time period.
Tom White's a lawyer. Ask him what fine and/or imprisonment means.
"Go Nancy, Go!"
A screenplay written by Anonymous, and slightly plagerized from Dr. Suess.
In a land called Obamaha, there was to be quite a party. A party that was to be all about "Change and Hope".
Guests came from all over the Land to join the residents of Obamaha to begin preparing for the big party called "Change and Hope".
One visitor to Obamaha was an old lady named Czarzina Nancy. She liked to give advice and she liked to carry "jewels" around in her purse.
Czarzina Nancy to Little Boy Tommie:
Do you like, my Plan?
Little Boy Tommie:
No, I do not like your Plan. I can't fly around in the private planes that I own under your Cap and Trade Plan. I like my planes, so, no, I do not like your Plan!
Czarzina Nancy: Hmmph, Goodbye!
Little Boy Tommie: Goodbye.
Later that night, while Little Boy Tommie slept in his cushy, comfy bed, Czarzina Nancy sent her minion Steny Beny into his home to steal his "jewels". When Little Boy Tommie got out of bed the next morning, he was shocked to find his "jewels" had disappeared!
Later that day.
Czarzina Nancy appeared at Little Boy Tommie's air plane hanger. She had only one question on her mind.
Czarzina Nancy: Do you like, my Plan?
Little Boy Tommie: Yes, Yes, I do like your Plan! I do like your Massive Healthcare Plan. It is beautiful and masterful, your Massive Healthcare Plan!
Czarzina Nancy: (with a slightly evil grin visible through a tightly stretched face)Wonderful, now let's go to the Party!
Little Boy Tommie: (with great excitement ran right along behind Czarzina with Steny Beny following behind to ensure that Little Boy Tommie did not wander off to the right) When do I get my jewels back?
Czarzina Nancy: I think I will just keep them in my little purse for a while:)
And nobody lived happily ever after in Obamaha again.
The End
Anon 9:13,
The anonymi, along with "The Silent Majority" ... are always concerned.
Popular mythology has John Hancock's signature writ large on the Declaration of Independence so that King George wouldn't require his spectacles to be able to read it. Hancock's name, as President of the Continental Congress, was the only one that appeared on the first printed version of the Declaration, known as the Dunlap broadside. It was also his declaration of treason, which means he put his life on the line to stand up for what he believed in. Talk about being "concerned!"
The parchment version of the Declaration of Independence, the one bearing Hancock's huge signature and the one on display in the National Archives is not the original version of that document. It is what is known as an "engrossed copy."
It is easy to have opinions when no one can hold you responsible for them. It is much more difficult to be open about what you believe in when everyone knows your name. There are consequences to being known. Some have the courage to face that, others don't.
Anon 9:22,
You guys had your chance to f*** everything up over the past several years and you were extremely successful at it. Give us our chance! We surely can't do any worse.
In need of clarification:
LSB says - Tom White thinks you should be go to prison if you don't buy ObamaCare.
Is this true?
Sounds like the House bill that White admits he would have voted for, has provisions that say if you don't have insurance you must or you'll be fine or could face imprisonment. Is this correct?
so if you have no insurance you must get some? You could buy private insurance, right? Not "ObamaCare"?
I think the LSB has a ethical duty to provide accurate information and not to mislead on purpose to score political points.
Oh, and Anon 9:22,
Before you talk about anyone lacking "balls," you should grow a pair.
providing false information to mislead people to score political points is what the Leavenworth Street Blog is all about...just like FOX "news"
Sorry 9:22, that was supposed to be directed at Anon 9:46.
Things my Grampa used to say:
Two wrongs don't make a right'
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It is the actions they take that matter most.
Thanks Grampa!
BTO, I am not like Nancy Pelosi. I can't grow a pair and I can't afford to have a pair sewn on.
I do have a pretty purse that I could carry some around in though. Are you offering?
Every reliable source has announced this week that the Pro Life Amendment to the Pelosi Plan will not see the light of day in the Senate and that NO ONE will fight for it in Conference.
Therefore,
TOM WHITE IS NOT PRO LIFE!
He really should have endorsed Nancy Pelosi's crappy healthcare plan before all those Pro Abortion proclamations were made public. At least then he would have had some cover for his true beliefs.
Anon 10:51,
You anonymi are going to have to, at the very least, start using individual aliases. Even Sweeper agrees with me on this. I guess I can only assume that you are the same "anonymous" that posted at 9:46. I'm sorry, but you all look alike to me, since you all use the same name.
OK, Anon to the Nth, I still don't know if that means you are a woman, or if you are just a guy that lacks intestinal fortitude. At any rate, try to have the courage of your convictions. Some of us do and we face the slings and arrows of those of you that don't ... with courage.
And no, that is not the kind of thing that you can borrow ... pretty purse or not.
It's hilarious, the health insurance industrial complex is spending millions a day to manufacture consent for a system that was designed and refined by lobbyists and lets 122 Americans die every day. Congratulations, you have all been manipulated by slick marketing campaigns, content to allow the United States to remain the 37th most effective healthcare system in the world, right behind Costa Rica and just ahead of Slovenia.
That's the fact jack.
Let's not forget, when given the chance to talk about what he didn't like in the health care bill he supported, Tom White never mentioned: 1) the expansion of government 2) the inabilitly of America to pay for it 3) the loss of liberty when a government forces you to buy what you don't want 4) the rationing of care 5) the damage it will do to the insurance industry in the 2nd District, or even 6) the beuaracratic nightmare it will be to implement a plan. No, Tom White whines about the lack of technology.
He is fundamentally out of touch with the role of government in a free society.
Congrats to the Nebraska Republican Party for forcing Tommy White to publicly state his position on the health care bill. We've seen what happens when the media gets lazy and allows a stealth candidate like Jim Suttle to run and get elected without taking a position on the issues of the day. No more.
Congrats to the Nebraska Republican Party for having the most trashy website of all the 50 states. Maybe the decent Republicans of this state will rise up and oust the tea-baggers who have hijacked their party.
To those concerned,
My use of the term "ObamaCare", means, "The House bill".
That help ya?
This is ridiculous. White needs to find an issue to draw distinctions, because he knows the only way he wins this race is to get Democrats to care that he's going to win. If he acts like Ben Nelson, he'll get crushed because no one will lift a finger for him. And if HCR passes, there will be a lot of other issues that will come up between now and next November.
Terry has a pretty clear record of wanting to deny health care to kids, to the poor, and to the millions of Americans who are denied coverage because they are sick. You sure he wants to run on THAT record?
Still waiting for NNN to rip into White--like they did Terry a few months ago--for opposing cap & trade.
Also, interesting that Lisa Hannah posted a threatening letter on NNN that supposedly was put in their home mailbox in G.I. She's gone to the police over it. Time will tell whether this really happend or if Lisa/Roger simply manufactured the incident themselves.
I N S A N I T Y ...
Dems--the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
You've attacked Terry over SCHIP, veterans, budget deficit, term limits, et al. Look where it's got you--nowhere. Same result is coming in 2010.
Why did it take White one full week before he "disclosed" how he'd vote on the bill?
------->is he chairing Weenies for White?
Terry had two wins in what were bad political enviros--06 and 08. 2010 is going to be a Repub year as voters--especially Indies--show that in voting for Obama they didn't view it as giving the D's carte blanche to take over health care, own car companies, raise taxes and kill jobs--which is what their health care 'reform' will do.
The D's got everything they asked for on their economic program--everything. Unemployment is now 10.2%--highest in 26 years. Guys, your program ain't working and voters will let you know that loudly...
Bye, Tom.
Good night now Mr. White. It's over. Thank you and have a great day!
I know a fair numbr of lefty/indie/progressive voters in Omaha. They're not voting for White. Tom's strategy (actually Paul Johnson's) of running to the right will have the effect of deflating base D voters (i.e. lefties).
They will vote for a progressive but aren't excited about going to the polls for a squish.
Gallup's generic congressional poll this week
Repubs 48
Dem 44
Really pretty much says it all. The D's took their heavy majority and went to work remaking society--
Big parallel to 1993-94... you D's just don't learn. And, it is too late now--you've made your economic bed w/the stimulus program (that White supports) and now you're responsible for the 10.2% unemployment that has resulted.
And you're gonna be held responsible when it hits 10.8% next fall.
Please keep pushing your healthcare takeover plan--you're pushing seniors heavily to the R side. They know it is built on $500 BILLION in Medicare cuts.
The NDP "A" Team (Kerrey, Robak, Wesely et al) know what is coming--that's why no credible person is stepping forward to run for Gov, LTGov, Treas, AG or Auditor.
Do the Republicans have anyone running against any Democratic legislators this year? Other than Cap Dierk's son Fredo?
Even if they don't, what's that give the R's in the leg. party-wise--37 of 49? Try again, Ian/Samp.
The real fight isn't gonna be between White and Terry--it's gonna be White v. Nelson on issues.
Example--when White mouthed off about Offutt not getting a mission, he took aim at Terry but really hit Nelson, since Ben is on Defense Approps Subc. Heard that Ben told TW to watch it...
Dear Tom,
Thank you for the #1 issue that will be used against you in the next 11+ months.
Regards,
Lee Terry, NRCC, NEGOP, all Republicans.
It looks like White has answered the question that Fahleson has been taunting him with.
Now it's time for Fahleson to answer a question...
Are you proud of the legislative records of Smith, Fortenberry, and Terry. 1 bill between the 3 of them in 10 years, would you consider that successful? To an incoming freshman congressman, can you point to those 3 as an example of effective leadership to strive for?
What do you say Fahleson?
I just saw the Moveon.org ad against Terry on TB. Wow! I can't believe they're taking my advice. But they are wise for doing so. Keep spending that money, Moveon.org. You can do it!
BTW, Anon 8:21, I for one, am very proud of Fortenberry, Terry, and Smith. Not one of them voted for Nancy Pelosi for Speaker. Not one of them voted for Cap and Tax, Porkulus, or Obamacare. We already know how Tom White will vote. He'll be asking Pelosi, "How high?" on the way up.
google Mark Fahleson, see the first thing that comes up
Kudos to Republican Senator John Harms from Scottsbluff for admitting publicly that it's embarrassing in the computer age the state cannot even have a good accounting of the number of jobs that are vacant. That's what happens when Heineman appoints his campaign manager Carlos Castillo to head the Department of Administrative Services, something he's grossly unqualified for.
Forget these grandiose ideas like liberalism and conservatism, left versus right, and cut to the heart of the problems with the Heineman administration, ineffective management. No matter where you happen to think the budget cuts should come from we need a clear picture of the actual numbers we're dealing with to make accurate decisions, which Carlos Castillo has not been able to deliver to us. What has Castillo done in his professional life that qualifies him to head such a position? I don't think being able to draft clever attack mailings against David Hahn necessarily translates into accounting and administrative skills. This has "Heck of a job Brownie" written all over it.
I think that White's support of the health care bill will help him against LT. Terry is going to have to explain how you can be against government run health care and for Medicare. Which is it? 'cause it can't be both. I can just see the direct mailer to seasoned citizens of a Terry quote that the government should stay out of health care. Sure sounds like he wants to eliminate Medicare to me. Fair? of course not. Effective? absolutely
AARP and the NMA support the bill and they will turn on Terry and his lack of vision on solving this problem that is busting both private and public sector budgets.
Isn't it wonderful that there is someone that thinks just because you don't want to dismantle one Federal Program, that means that you must create more.
Oh, wait, this is exactly why Congressman Terry voted AGAINST the Pelosi Healthcare Plan. It is a road to more and more government control of every single American living in this Country.
I am glad you finally "get" it. Nice example.
Folks,
The RNC's own health care proposal provides abortion insurance coverage.
Also, anyone catch the NY Times story about House members - including NE's own Lee Terry - having drug company lobbyists write their congressional record statements?
Now, not only is Lee guilty of doing nothing in Congress, he's been caught red handed having the lobbyists do his homework.
Another embarassing episode brought to NE by Lee Terry.
Shoe's behind the curve...
The RNC dropped the abortion coverage--you need to keep up to date and read stuff other than the DCCC talking points.
Is Castillo going to be fired over this debacle or what? Even Bush had the good sense to fire Brown.
"Never give up your friends, Dave, no matter what." - Carlitos Way
Tom White thank you in advance for the destruction of my job and the 1500 other people that I work with probably feel the same!!!!
Anon 10:42,
While you are technically correct, would you mind sharing with everyone exactly WHEN and WHY the RNC dropped that clause in their insurance coverage?
You need to listen to something other than just RNC talking points.
Similiar to other situations, the Gov. has decided to go into attack mode as opposed to correcting the problem. He called Senator Mello childish for even asking for an accurate report on vacancies. geez.
Be like blaming Katrina for Brownie's not knowing what he was doing.
BTO--I guess you aren't interested in working for the RNC now since they made the change (last week).
Anon 11:51--if this is an issue then you won't have any more problems in finding a candidate for Gov. will you... show us something...other than cheap talk.
Hold on, Dayton:
You could be right--the gov't takeover plan ($1.1 trillion) is not what voters in NE2 will want.
But I personally think healthcare won't be the major issue next year--the economy and jobs will be.
That's where the D's will lose it. They control everything and their program is giving us the highest unemployment in almost 30 years--and it is likely to get worse in 2010. White endorsed the Obama stimulus plan--that's the silver bullet that leads him to defeat in NE2.
Anon 11:55,
I have never had any desire to work for the RNC, and having an abortion is the least of my worries since I lack the appropriate plumbing necessary to have one.
From what I understand, some lefty blogger outed the RNC on this just within the past couple of weeks, and THAT is when the RNC decided to drop it. Keep it real.
Anon 12:15,
The thing you continually refuse to observe is that the economical morass we find ourselves in is thanks to the policies of the Bush administration. I guess President Obama could have continued Bush's plan and left our country absolutely bankrupt, both morally and financially. But, then again, you'd blame all THAT on Obama as well.
BTO--the economic tailspin was due to the near collapse of the financial system due to subprime mortgages. GWB didn't force Citibank, for instance, to get into them heavy. It was Robert Rubin who pressed them--a Citi bd member who was Clinton's Treas Secy. Try again.
Your party owns the economy--have fun w/it. Just not the kind of change people voted for.
Obama/White bill will increasse health care costs $290 bil over 10 years.
CMS report---> current law, hc is 20.8% of GDP. Under Obama/White hc increases $289 billion (real terms) and is 21.1% of GDP.
O/W does not cut costs--it increases them. CMS is part of HHS and the Obama admin.
I just can't believe how many of you big insurance company hacks have been put to work spreading propaganda about the "Obamacare" scare. Must be you all work for BC/BS and MofO and are afraid of losing your cushy jobs, just as so many others have have lost theirs due to their employers shutting down because they could no longer afford to insure the health of their employees.
BTO: you might want to take a gander at the latest incarnation of Obamacare. The penalties on small businesses are good enough to make sure that plenty of them will go out of business. At the very least they will be wary about adding jobs nor pay their employees very much to make sure that their payroll stays below $500,000.
And BTW, did you miss the part about mandatory coverage? That's a multibillion dollar giveaway to the insurance companies. For a few years at least. Why do you think that the insurance companies are NOT coming out against Obamacare? Instead, it's the poor schmucks who have jobs and are going to have to pay for it with income taxes who are against this BS.
Combine Obamacare with cap and trade, and 10% unemployment is going to look like the good ol' days.
Tom White's embrace of Pelosi's Health Care bill will kill thousands of insurance jobs in Omaha and enrich his trial lawyer buddies!!
If White was really proud of the bill--why was he silent about it for a week?
Not a peep out of the "Weenies for White" camp. lol
Let me get this straight, some Republicans are complaining that the bill was pushed through with only 3 hours of debate and they didn't have enough time to vote on it. Now they're complaining that White waited a week before announcing how he would have voted.
Maybe White spent the week reading the bill, reviewing it, studying it's impact, gathering information, and talking to constituents. White doesn't have the luxury of living in Washington and having a taxpayer funded staff to research for him (yet) the way Terry does. This argument is garbage.
Or,Anon--
White knew his answer either way would be a political loser--say he's against it and he further ticks off the lefty vote (who already are ticked at his C&T position), or say he's for it and get tagged, again, as a big spender--something he knows is a political killer right now w/his 10.2% unemployment.
Face it--Tom went dark for a week because he wanted to avoid having to take a stand. That's the deal, McNeel.
Anony 12:56.
So you claim the economic tailspin was due to Clinton's Treas. Secy. If that is so, why then did GWB just sit on his hands for eight years and do NOTHING about it? Try again.
Or maybe White was too busy cooking up new ideas for bills in the Special Session that would be ruled not germane...
-----> Hit trade w/China, Tom. Intro an amendment on that this week!
BTO--since you know everything, why weren't you posting here on the dangers of sub-prime mortgages back in 07?
BTO in Oct 2010:
"The 11.2% unemployment is GWBs fault."
Not much of an argument bucko, but keep trying.
BTO--glad you're posting here.
The point is you try and blame GWB for the near economic collapse--why don't you blame the investment banks and financial houses that actually caused it--like Citibank--because they overinvested in them.
Anyone want to lay odds on whether Covalt/Rogers & Samp rollout any statewide candidates this coming week...
Will they do so before X-mas?
What's the plan...
5:05
"Them" meaning sub-prime mortgages.
Anony 5:00,
What does it feel like being so damned ignorant? Really, I'm just curious.
Anony 5:05,
If it was up to me, we'd be hanging most of the heads of all the financial institutions that got us into the mess, but GWB's administration was supposed to be providing some kind of oversight, was it not? What we got was the same kind of action that we saw in response to Katrina ... diddly squat.
Anony 5:06,
I really don't care what those people are up to these days. Commenting on them just encourages them.
Anonii in general,
Really people, how damned difficult is it to make up a fake name and just use it each time you post here. Look one line above where you click on the "Anonymous" button and you'll see "Name/URL" just click on that, enter Joe Shmoe or whatever you like, and then we'll be able to tell all you lemmings apart as you head over the abyss.
BTO--lol!
I was going to say the same thing about you guys--you look like a bunch of penguins, waddling together over the cliff...as you follow the D party's line on everything--a line that most voters are rejecting right now (if you'd look at the polls you'll see that). Have fun...
Aw, c'mon you lazy stiffs. Use a nom de plume if you have to, but leave the "Anonymous" button alone. It makes you look like idiots.
anony 5:51,
Which lobbyist did you get to write that for you?
I think that I quite enjoy making BTO identify us by the time stamp on our comments.
BTW, I am now Anon 7:06.
Crap, my clock on my computer is wrong!LOL
Now I amAnon 7:09
Crap, wrong again!LOL
Appreciate BTO's ideas for LS--but not your call, guy.
As Repubs, we just have a resistance to libs telling us what to do in life and how to post comments--do it the way you want BTO--and buzz off.
I repeat - the RNC proposed using taxpayer funs for abortions and only withdrew it when the media called them on it.
It just goes to show that the entire issue is bullshit for the GOP - they use it to drive a wedge between Americans and then their own HQ proposes using taxpayer funds for abortion. Their position on the issue is craven.
Where are the Terry staffers defending their boss' use of drug company lobbyist written speeches entered into the Congressional Record under Lee's name? Lee is an embarrassment to Nebraska.
Tom White, in his most glorious tax and spend liberal posturing, wouldn't ever embarrass Nebraska the way Lee terry has done over and over.
Foolish anonymii,
You all want to pass your laziness off as being clever? You only fool yourselves, which is apparently very easy to do.
OK. Here it is in Sweeper's own words from April 5, 2007:

Back to discussing POLITICS.
Interesting attacks on Carlos Castillo...is Sen. Mello trying to do some political grandstanding before he possibly seeks a higher office?
If anyone read the OWH aricle, they would've learned that the state of Nebraska has a decentralized Human Resource office, which means each agency/dept has their own HR and those people do not report to DAS (Carlos). Those people were given the tools and information to run the necessary reports. They did and turned them in to DAS. How is it anyone's fault besides the HR people conducting the report?
If people can't realize this is a pathetic, politically-biased attempt at smearing the Heinemann administration, then they must have blinders on.
It's time to focus some light on our socialist commarade Senator Mello. sweeper you should do some investigating of his attempts to lower all wages of state employees making more than $100k a year. Many of these people are critical care doctors for the mentally ill, which Mello is a so called champion of!!!!
Is Mello an Acorn Supporter? He seems really left wing and out of line with Nebraska values. I don't think he will ever hold a higher office unless he moved to New Jersey...um...ohhh....bad example.
I have been quiet for a while beacuse I hardly have time for the neanderthals that troll this site, but Heath Mello is not a socialist, he is a progressive! He like other like minded senators like White, Conrad, and Lathrop feel our capitalist system is broken and that government can help create jobs and get us back on our feet. Name one time when tax cuts created jobs!!! Go Senator Mello we back here at UNL!!
This is EXACTLY what Lee Terry wanted. Now, White is on record and Terry will be able to rally the senior citizens, which just so happen to be the largest voting block. This was the one issue that would propel Terry if White went on record. Now he has, and now, it's over.
Well 4.0 is back!!! Nice to see that Varner Hall shares your progressive agenda.
@10:46
That is a copout. Castillo was in charge of monitoring all the reporting from those independent agencies, that's what an administrator does. Castillo dropped the ball, there had to have been warning signs that could have been corrected months ago that someone qualified for that position would have caught and MANAGED. They never had these sort of accounting problems when Nelson Exon, or Morrison were governor. Then again we didn't have the sort of human tragedy that continues to happen at the Beatrice State Developmental Center either. It's not Heineman's fault? Yeah he's only the GOVERNOR. If there was a long record of steps Heineman and Castillo did to prevent these things it would be different, but I challenge anyone to name what Heineman or Castillo did to prevent the vacancies/accounting budget debacle or the tragedy in Beatrice.
Dear 4.0,
I’m not quite sure how you manage a 4.0 in grad school with your spelling and grammatical prowess? Progressive is simply the PC term for socialist most likely after it was ‘focus grouped’. Interesting thing about progressives / socialists (using your words) who ‘feel our capitalist system is broken and that government can help create jobs and get us back on our feet’, is that our Constitution doesn’t allow for such a role in government. [Granted it does anyway, but I digress].
Jobs are, have been, and will always be, created by the private sector. The government has NEVER created a job. It simply has TAKEN from private citizens and redirects that wealth preventing them from investing which creates jobs (So when the Bamster says he created a job he really took one out of the private sector and created a lower paying one in the public).
The best example of this – if Nebraska suddenly took 100% of all income in the state, productivity would drop to nill and that wonderful land grant institution you are in would fold like a house of cards leaving you without a degree AND a job.
Quiz on Friday….
Anonymous @ 5:16: Have you beendrinking? I hope if you are near Nebraska City you stay off the roads. It's only safe for snowplows!! If you knew anything about state government, you would know Carlos cannot control the other departments.
Do REPUBLICANS even admit that our health care system is deeply flawed?
Do Republicans even see that many Americans can't afford health care insurance and thus are suffering illnesses that could be treated??
These are your fellow human beings!!!
WAKE UP REPUBLICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ah a new day. How wonderful it is, except for the 120 some odd people who will die today because they dont have health coverage. How can you republicans feel proud about that number?
State senators Tom White and Heath Mello were on an hour long program last evening on Cox channel 22. Besides taking turns bashing Republicans in general and the governor and Lee Terry in specific, it was a total marxist rally when they weren't kissing each other's butts. If Mello is a "progressive" (aka socialist), then Tom White was in lockstep with him all the way. I hope Terry's campaign folks got the show on DVR...everything they need to show White for the extreme liberal he is was on full display.
Oh how wonderful it is that thousands die each day in countries with socialized medicine. The ones that live come to our hospitals for treatment....NATE quit drinking the kool-aid
Anon 7:31. People die everyday all over the world, you are correct. But only in this industrialized country do people die because they dont have health insurance. And how many foreigners come to our country for health care exactly? They come because we have great quality of care, we just dont care about our fellow citizens enough to make sure they are healthy.
Are you one of the retards who thinks if Stephen Hawking was born in a country with socialized medicine he would have been denied care?
@5:18
So I suppose Castillo was supposed to sit in the offices of these people and hold their hands to make sure they did their job right? Are you serious?
Training and resources were provided to these people. We should be asking their individual agency directors/managers why their subordinates (HR people) can't do their job right. After all, THEY are the ones who turned in inaccurate reports to the agency who was charged with compilinh these reports.
You of course start with blame at the top (placed on someone who is not even the supervisor of these people), instead of on the employees and their DIRECT supervisors.
There's a piece of your diagram/flow chart missing there....too bad streetsweeper doesn't have some kind of drawing program set up for us so I can show you how your blameplacing has a huge gap in it.
Would have been a great issue for LT if only he hadn't entered a lobbyist's talking points into the Congressional Record. Now whenever he brings up health care, Tom White gets to bring up LT's lack of integrity.
NATE YOU ARE CLUELESS...People are dying everyday in Britain and Canada with socialized medicine. The waiting times for treatment or the denial of treatment kills thousands every month. Now an government panel is saying that women should get mammograms at 50 instead of 40. How many women must die of breast cancer to save money to pay for your liberal agenda!!!!
How wonderful today is, except for the 252 people who will die today from medical errors. But then that gives Obama's lawyer buddies opportunities for big fat paychecks, so maybe it is a good day, after all.
BTW, on TV last night Tom White made a few statements that clearly call his supposed opposition to Cap & Tax proposal into question. He just can't hide his leftie socialist beliefs when he's puffing himself up on "climate change" and he doesn't seem to hesitate quoting MoveOn's talking points. This is not a defense of Lee "I speak like a pompous ass" Terry either, since he's one of the top 10 favorite Republicans of the House democrats.
Question remains: What is Lee Terry or Tom White going to do to make my life and America better? Put it out there in a concise easy to comprehend message and then pound it home nonstop. Otherwise, both look to be the same old same old of blather or spin.
I got an e-mail begging for money. Why would I give money to either when neither have made their case?
10:39,
Just a hint, but the only person who can make "your life better"...is YOU.
SS
Sweeper,
A small modification:
The only person(s) who can make your life better is you AND Sen Nelson by not voting for cloture on the Senate Health Care Bill.
How Zen of you Sweeper. Or, perhaps Dr. Phil. Unfortunately, those are the two wishing and hoping to be elected to represent....me.
I'd just like to put in a word for the millions who will die today because they live in countries where statist governments have stifled free enterprise, resulting in death, disease and a lousy quality of life for all but an elite.
Let's hope America doesn't choose this path.
