See it here:
Good, solid, direct to the camera spot. Fatherly, reassuring tone.
This is the kind of stuff people are looking for when the term "Nebraska values" is used -- saving up a nest-egg for bad times.
This ad will stand out, particularly in the Omaha market, for its low tone, simplicity and directness.
(Which is all well and good, but what we wouldn't give for just one animated turkey-shooting ad...)

Tough decisions, whether Mike Johanns should break federal law and whether he violated the Hatch Act, now that is a tough decision huh?
Are Congressional Democrats abusing their power to draft bogus reports to score cheap political reports? Sure looks like it. I'm sure it wasn't a very tough decision for them.

Mike's tough decision. Do I sit in First Class, or are they gonna make me sit in economy with the taxpayers who are putting on this party? I hope he at least had the manners to ask the flight attendant to close the screen while he was putting Grey Poupon on his sandwich.
I should consult Uncle Wiggly on this, (since he is one of the few bloggers I believe) but does the Hatch Act apply to state officials campaigning for legislators, too?
Lighten up, Sweeper. You and your fellow right-wingers need to relax and just let Democracy happen.
Scott Kleeb, Jim Esch and the rest of my Democrats are going to get this country back on the proper path.
Don't be scared. It's not like Bill Ayers is going to be telling the University how to set its policy...
Mike Johanns never made a hard decision. He waffled, the state Unicameral did all the difficult work, and that was that. When in a position in Washington to make the right decisions, he did what Karl Rove told him to do, and let his employees take elaborate trips to spas and resorts, all of this on the taxpayer dime, and all while shutting down FSA office.
Mike Johanns - time to term limit this life-long politician and send him back to Stephanie full time.
you Dems are pathetic and sad. Really, can you come up with anything better than that?
Face the facts: Johanns is a very popular former governor and mayor, and served his country as Ag Secretary. if you can't see that for what it is, then you are small.
"and now we have the largest cash reserves in the state history"... Isn't that more of an endorsement of the current governor than Johanns?
Cal,
Johanns is popular because he went out of his way to make no decisions and not make people mad. He governed to be elected at a later date for a later named post
ASEC
So... you concede that he is popular. Mighty sporty of you!
Because of operation vanguard, johanns has little credibility in my book.
He stood up for corporate interests and the big meatpackers, and stood against stability, order, and effective law enforcement in Nebraska communities.
I'd rather the seat go unfilled than have the fake boy-rancher be elected.
Time to send him and Get-Around Jane packing...
Operation Vanguard - a program that was set up to weed out the illegals by basically going in, going through the records, setting up mandatory "meetings" with the suspected illegals, and the result was they didn't show up. In time this was resulting in a methodical removal of illegal immigrants in meat packing plants.
Mikey Bushanns didn't like that. The corporate heads complained it was hurting production. He made them stop the work.
He then went around the country promoting the Bush guest worker program which, in his own words, would let those workers step into the sunlight and get legally registered to work. Yet he said this wasn't amnesty. What would you call it when an illegal gets papers no questions asked?
NOw, last night in the debate, he was suddenly Rambo and said that raids would continue to be the law of the land.
I don't think the man has a clue what his position is.
Johanns needs to explain himself on operation vanguard
why should we believe him when he says now he supports enforcement?
when he had a chance to uphold the law and let the governement do its job, he instead squashed very effective enforcement efforts and sided with the meatpackers to perpetuate corporate welfare
Ya just gotta love it all. I sleep better at night knowing men like Johanns will be keeping guard and not the socialist B.H.O.
of course McCain/Johanns/Terry are going to win.
Republicans are meanspirited tightwads and Democrats are blithering idiots. Tightwads can be charitable but idiots are stuck being a danger to themselves and others.
OWH endorsed Esch and Kleeb! Not.
In all seriousness, untested, unaccomplished, underemployed party boys are not the people the Dems should be running if they actually want to win a Congressional seat in Nebraska. Perhaps it would work somewhere else, like the Southside of Chicago, but it won't work here. But, hey, I guess it's your money and your vote.
See: Section 7324 of the Hatch Act.
It's my money, my vote, and even guys like Colin Powell agree with me. Then there are those who hide behind fake names but like to blather around as though their opinions mattered.
You have very good company BTO
heehehee
McCain/Johanns/Terry
Are going to win:)
So Mr Powell is to be the final word in endorsements? I wonder if he had the same criteria for promoting officers when he was in. Let's see ............... NOT!
Yet no one in the media will call him out on it. Kind of pathetic but not unexpected.
Oh by the way, when the socialists want to start taking from those who have and giving it to those who won't. I hope they take it from those who voted them in first. Starting with Buffet then Gates and down the line through hollywood etc. And take it all.
anymouse,
I can turn on the TV and get Fox Noise talking points. Can't you come up with anything original?
